amanda02 replied to Hana Rous's discussion 'Would i get any benefit from going to Metformin SR ?'
"Hi Hana! I know how hard it can be to convince a doctor to prescribe Met when you are getting great numbers! I switched from Met regular to ER because I was getting horrible GI problems. Initially, the ER didn't seem to be working. It…"

amanda02 commented on Jen's blog post 'The worst advice, ever'
"Good question, Jen. Type 2 diabetes is very common, and we are treated with a degree of distain by many medical professionals. We often get haphazard treatment, and many T2's erroneously believe if we take some meds, we can eat anything. If the…"

"Excellent essay. As a T2,I've been puzzling over this advice, too. I think the medical professional who give it, really think the advice is liberating, similar to "Girls can do anything.""

amanda02 commented on Phishery's group 'Dr. Bernstein Diabetes Solution Group'
"T1VY, I am not suffering burnout, but I can understand how it can happen. Carbs are addictive. If you hae a taste, you want some more. I have to be sure I have alternatives. BTW, Dr. Bernstein's WOE can be modified a little. I have a sliver…"

amanda02 replied to guitarnut's discussion 'Anyone Else?'
"Why do you let your BG's get that high? Maybe your body is telling you something. 140 is the threshold for complications, so if they go up over that, you should try cutting some carbs. Also, try testing at one and two hours PP."
