My Dr is in TN in the USA! I wish all Drs were like him though. I have a kidney specilist that I REALLY don't like b/c he is always fussing about my A1C! a neph.....................OK can't spell it.

Hey Amy - I'm self taught on my pump - since it's still kinda rare here in Quebec (I live so close to Ontario border - arrrrhhh - I could have a pump paid for if I lived there - arrrrrh - working on moving my fat buttocks there as I get closer to Freedom 55). Therefore, I only had myself to argue with over which settings to use. I mean, it's my body, I know what I'm doing, though I was MDI (multiple doseage injecting) for about 10 years prior to going onto the pump (or some of us call this method the "poor mans pump") - so switching to the pump was way easy for me. Also, I've been diabetic practically all my life, so I'm used to being a guineau pig (oink, oink).
Have you got yourself the book by John Walsh called Pumping Insulin? If you haven't - that's a really GOOD resource book to help you figure out how to set things up with your pump. It's like my bible :) - but way easier to read.

Nope Never had any conflict with nurses b/c my Dr tells all of them I'm incharge of my D not them. I love him for that. Even in the hospital he will tell them I'm NOT a typical Diabetic so don't try the typical treatment on me! I've had nurses look at me and tell me that the DR said the DR said we treat this but the d is in your courtyard. He said we DON'T touch that since you know how to do it and have a pump. Maybe the nurse is trying to get your carbs and such set for you?
