My work on the Diabetes Hands Foundations

Hello, I am Andreina Davila, I am the Creative Director, co-founder of the Diabetes Hands Foundation, under which this community runs. I also happen to be Manny's wife. Together with our board of directors and advisors, our administrators our great group of volunteers we run this community.

If you have any questions, ideas, comments or concerns about the community please do not hesitate on contacting me. I am always looking for better ways to connect our initiatives with your needs as members of this community
. (our members)

A little bit more about my work on DHF: As an officer and staff member and I am in charge of overseeing the design for our online communities (TuDiabetes.com and EsTuDiabetes.com), developing and implementing branding strategies including web design, logo design, marketing and advertising collateral, printed promotional materials and retail merchandise products. (yes, we are working on this) I am also in charge of developing and implementing our awareness initiatives unit, (word in your hand, drawing diabetes, newsletter, etc) involving the community by means of art and/or design projects. Manuel (Manny) and I work together on fundraising, general operations and administrative tasks.

Separate from this, I am artist, owner of Evolve Art Studio. I am from Venezuela, went to College there for Architecture, and in 2003 graduated from a MSD on Interior Design (ASU, AZ). Currently, I live with my husband and son in the Bay Area, CA.

For not being a cheerleader you make me smile quite a lot! ;) Scott, there is sensibility on anything you write, anything you will want to write about will be great... It is fun, but in sense shallow. but you know Oprah will always be a hit *wink

It's hard to find the "Orphan Diabetics" discussion group about diabetes due to other conditions, such as certain medication use or pancreas damage. I'd like to see a link to "Other Diabetes" added under "Forum" on the tudiabetes home page, which would connect people directly to "Orphan Diabetics."

Andre, I finally got around to wearing my new Tshirt yesterday, and I just had to tell you how nice it is! It fits very nice, and I even got a second "look" from Ed. P.S. I really loved seeing that photo of you and Manny. Happy New Year!

Andre, I received the package with all those goodies yesterday. thanks for putting in the Large sized Tshirt - those shirts were really sized small! I must tell you again how beautiful the cards are with your artwork. I'd love to have some notecards, or postcards for mailing using this art.

I'm trying, but it's difficult because I don't live in a very handicap-friendly apartment. I can't walk on my own yet because the feet still aren't healed. We are doing dermagrafts and I still have another 3 or 4 to go. (Lost count!)

Keep those good thoughts and prayers coming!

hi andreina,
my boyfriend is the one with diabetes and i created this profile when i found this website in hopes of learning something from all of you who have more knowledge and experience in dealing with this deisease than we do. my b/f and i are both 19 years old and he was diagnosed back in june of 08. his doc has not yet given us a diagnosis of type 1 or type 2 yet and i am not sure why not. but he first started him on pills but they werent bringing his sugar down low enough.
he has finally started him on insulin and his first time using it was yesterday.

we are both very new to this so any advice you can share with us is greatly appreciated =)

Hi-I have had diabetes for 10 years. I have encountered the ER about six weeks ago for very low sugar:30. Just a few weeks ago, I thought I encountered a light flu-bringing my blood glucose from 300-425-Couldn't keep anything down-by the time my husband got home-(I was lethargic) we went to the ER and I was 820.Everything was out of wak! I must have encountered an infection-& six days later they let me go home. I, now have a new Endo that is watching my sugars & put me on different insulin.
Make the most of your diabetes!
Glad to be here!

bye, bye books

Today I am deep-cleaning my studio, our studio… not my art studio, but the one with the computer and books.

I decided to go over my books and select the ones I don’t really use anymore… I have done this so many times in the past, usually I find an excuse to keep most of them.

The strangest thing happened today when I opened my architecture and Interior Design books… They mean so much to me… so many years, so much passion on those books. Yet, Today I finally felt it was time to get rid of thContinue

"Año Nuevo, Vida Nueva..."

New Year, New Life...

I am glad to be finally back! :)

Today I am writing from our new house in Palo Alto, as you may know we moved from
Orlando during the holiday, and still re-organizing everything in my
house and life. One thing I know, a range of new opportunities are open
for me right now (I just need to know what and where they are, ha)...
it is very exiting and sc… Continue

grieving

my grandma died this morning. I feel so sad, so isolated... I have the strangest sensation that I could just evaporate if I tried(or knew how) , and "fly" from here: in front of a computer and $ 2000 and 1 later day away to her service in Merida, my home city in Venezuela.

How can that be? my body feels soulless... I hope my mind could join my soul where it is... Al least I hope my dear family, (dad, mom, brother and sisters, cousins, aunts and uncles) can realize my soul is actually w… Continue
