My work on the Diabetes Hands Foundations

Hello, I am Andreina Davila, I am the Creative Director, co-founder of the Diabetes Hands Foundation, under which this community runs. I also happen to be Manny's wife. Together with our board of directors and advisors, our administrators our great group of volunteers we run this community.

If you have any questions, ideas, comments or concerns about the community please do not hesitate on contacting me. I am always looking for better ways to connect our initiatives with your needs as members of this community
. (our members)

A little bit more about my work on DHF: As an officer and staff member and I am in charge of overseeing the design for our online communities (TuDiabetes.com and EsTuDiabetes.com), developing and implementing branding strategies including web design, logo design, marketing and advertising collateral, printed promotional materials and retail merchandise products. (yes, we are working on this) I am also in charge of developing and implementing our awareness initiatives unit, (word in your hand, drawing diabetes, newsletter, etc) involving the community by means of art and/or design projects. Manuel (Manny) and I work together on fundraising, general operations and administrative tasks.

Separate from this, I am artist, owner of Evolve Art Studio. I am from Venezuela, went to College there for Architecture, and in 2003 graduated from a MSD on Interior Design (ASU, AZ). Currently, I live with my husband and son in the Bay Area, CA.

I am doing presentations on a new program which pays for diabetic testing supplies for diabetics who are unable to afford them. I got some cards and stickers from Judith here in Portland and would love to get some more to hand out at events. Could you or Manny write back to tell me if I can get those from you/ Thanks for taking time for this request, Andreina. Virgil in PDX

We all knew it was coming. Dad's systems were shutting down one by one. He finally died in my eldest sister's arms at 4 in the a.m. I didn't get to see him because it was too expensive a paratransit provider to go out of the county. Just another way to get money out of people.

I am out of the hospital but hot out of the woods. LOL I am back in the nursing home/rehab center. I call it the hell hole! I've been here for a month now. I also went to the surgeon today. She said that she thought that 10% of the surgical graft took hold, not only 5%! Yeah!! The nurse practitioner also mentioined something called dermagrafts. I am not sure of what is involved except that live cells are placed on the site they want grafted. This is done on a weekly basis. In the meantime, I'm still in here, rotting away! I could be here for another six months!!!! I want to be out of here by my birthday ... not six months from now!

Thanks for asking.

bye, bye books

Today I am deep-cleaning my studio, our studio… not my art studio, but the one with the computer and books.

I decided to go over my books and select the ones I don’t really use anymore… I have done this so many times in the past, usually I find an excuse to keep most of them.

The strangest thing happened today when I opened my architecture and Interior Design books… They mean so much to me… so many years, so much passion on those books. Yet, Today I finally felt it was time to get rid of thContinue

"Año Nuevo, Vida Nueva..."

New Year, New Life...

I am glad to be finally back! :)

Today I am writing from our new house in Palo Alto, as you may know we moved from
Orlando during the holiday, and still re-organizing everything in my
house and life. One thing I know, a range of new opportunities are open
for me right now (I just need to know what and where they are, ha)...
it is very exiting and sc… Continue

grieving

my grandma died this morning. I feel so sad, so isolated... I have the strangest sensation that I could just evaporate if I tried(or knew how) , and "fly" from here: in front of a computer and $ 2000 and 1 later day away to her service in Merida, my home city in Venezuela.

How can that be? my body feels soulless... I hope my mind could join my soul where it is... Al least I hope my dear family, (dad, mom, brother and sisters, cousins, aunts and uncles) can realize my soul is actually w… Continue
