So, when you put your Omnipod on your back - can you do it by yourself - or do you need to be assisted? I know when I MDI, I can do it one handed on my buttocks, but with an infusion set like I used with the Animas 2020, having 2 hands is a must!

Hey Barb - was great talking with you! I'm typing this out while we are all talking. Am hoping I get to ask you about the Omnipod - whether you've put it on your backside (upper back - lower back above below waistline).

A read a post a long time ago saying to use certified mail with "city hall." A written paper trail forces them to be serious. I think the process ultimately gets to a doctor reviewing your request and putting his license on the line by agreeing with the insurance company to reject your claim. It seems to me that a doctor isn't going to want to dispute your doc's letter of medical necessity. CGM has been around long enough that the old "it's experimental and unproven" line doesn't work anymore. Logic or fairness doesn't enter into it. Until the doc's review, I think they will say whatever they can to confuse or put you off. (I'd be more balanced in my opinion if it weren't for the record-breaking profits made by insurance companies compared to other industries.) Whatever you do, you have my sympathy. T1 is hard enough without the games!

Hi Barb, just wanted to commiserate with your recent insurance troubles.

A year or so ago, I had finally decided to take the plunge on Dexcom and had

figured out a (tight) budget for it and shortly thereafter BCBShit (aka Anthem

of CA) raised our premiums by enough to wipe out my budget, so no Dex and

no pump (yet).  ~~Sigh~~

Hang in there.

Hey Barb, I see you are just a few days shy of your 35 year D-day anniversary, I was diagnosed a few days after you at the age of 13, but I was already a full fledged diabetic on January 1, 1976 on vacation in New Orleans, diagnosed when I returned with a blood glucose of 1080, Happy New Year 1976 for us both I guess.  Congratulations for reaching this milestone, its somehow comforting to know that others have successfully navigated a similar journey.  All the best to you.  And a happy new year!  John Carlton

I just read your comment to to soda reply, I think that is hilarious, as I feel the same way, I have been through so much , eating so so healthy, so If one or two soda's a day is the end of me , then so be it, just for general knowledge , I found some naturally sweetened soft drinks made with purified water, and natural sugars , and the are delicious, I go to whole foods, and believe it is called steeaz and is made from stevia, ummm try it I get the blueberry flavored one, or the orange, and to top it off they are loaded with antioxidants...:)

Hi Barb!
We don't seem to be getting much response for a meet up!
I reached out to another T1 that I know who is a member here and asked her to read the posts and reply, but so far she has not!
We can give it more time to see if others will join or just choose a date and see if we get anyone coming out of the wood work? Let me know what you think!
