I just changed my first infusion set this morning!  I'm ridiculously happy about it, too, because it didn't hurt as badly as it did when I put my first one in at my CDE's office on Wednesday. I just…Continue

Dexcom alternate site placement, take 2...

Posted on July 19, 2011 at 1:30pm 1 Comment

I swear, I could be Dexcom's poster child for keeping the sensor in your abdomen. My first venture into alternate sites was my upper arm, which lasted all of 6 days. Although I didn't have a problem with it staying on, the readings just weren't terribly accurate. Since my initial trial in April, I've been able to get at least 10 days per sensor, and that makes the frugal part of me very happy. Less than my promised 7 days? Not so much. Plus, I rarely have the extra hands available to help me… Continue

Holy insulin resistance, Batman!

Posted on June 28, 2011 at 2:30pm 0 Comments

16w4d into pregnancy, and it seems like insulin resistance is hitting my like a brick. My fasting levels have been creeping up for the last 10 days, and I've spent too much of today over 200, even though I'd bolused more than enough for my breakfast and my lunch. Or at least I thought I did, but apparently I'm entering into a twilight zone and things are really changing quickly... Of course, after being high for way longer than I'd like, without my corrections having any effect, my insulin… Continue

Dear universe: lay off a bit, please?

Posted on May 3, 2011 at 1:40pm 6 Comments

So last week, our cat got lost and it took 3 days to find her. Yesterday, I fell in the garage and sprained my foot. I'm now on crutches and feeling miserable. The only pain reliever I can take is tylenol, which means that I have to choose between the dexcom or relieving the pain in my foot, and I feel downright naked without the dexcom. I'm trying not to worry about my babies and trust that they are fine and growing well, but I don't have another appointment until June, so I'm just nervous… Continue

My big box of diabetes goodies!

Posted on April 28, 2011 at 3:11pm 5 Comments

I'm sitting in my living room, looking at my bounty - my Dexcom CGM and Ping have arrived, along with 3 months of sensors, infusion sets, and other assorted goodies. I must say...I'm a bit overwhelmed by the sheer quantity of stuff here, but I'm also really excited. And the green Ping is just adorable! I can't wait to try everything out.

Pssst.... pass it on!

I just wanted to stop by to see if you've done your Big Blue Test Today. Dont' forget that every time you log a Big Blue Test $5 is donated to diabetes charities that are providing life-saving supplies and services.

If you haven't yet, go log a Big Blue Test at http://www.bigbluetest.org/. If you have, do another!

Forgot to add, did you have the GAD-65 test yet? I am convinced I have type 1.5 just because of my past with this. We will have to chat.
