I am a Civil/Quality Engineer for a general contractor (Family Business) and the quality Control Program Manager for our company. I am certified by the US Army Corps of Engineers and U.S.Navy NAVFAC as a Quality Engineer for DOD construction projects.

I currently use diet and exercise (Bicycling) to control my diabetes. Things are turning towards full Type 2 diabetes after all of the surgeries (12) from abdominal scar tissue, abdominal fistulas and adhesions strangling my small intestine. While in hospital I always require insulin to stay balanced in the blood sugar department. I had 2 kidney failures following surgeries and have permanent kidney damage now.

My wife and our 2 children support and encourage me and keep me up when things look so dark at times. TuDiabetes is my main resource.

It has been a shock but my wife is helping me with the decisions and research. finding the diet and exercise for me and planning my team is pretty overwhelming. I am curently the engineer on site for a new air traffic control tower at a naval air station my employer is building so I am a bit stressed time wise. The people here and the information available is amazing and comforting to me. This site and the ADA site are very helpful. We found two books from ADA last night at the bookstore and I am reading one now, kind of a primer for diabetes, which is what I need right now.

The doctor's information and my research has answered so many questions I have had lingering for a few years. Foot pain beyond what my spinal injury was responsible for and worsening vision even after new glasses. The medical establishment is old hat since I have had 12 surgeries since 2000 so once more into the breach. Thanks everyone. You people are wonderful for my morale.

Welcome to the TuDiabetes family! I hope we can offer you a platform that you can rely on as you go through the early states of D2.... it's not easy, but you can do it.

Mercy Bill that's a really recent diagnosis. How are you dealing with it? I imagine it's a big shock.

Let us know if we can help, and welcome.
