I'm way too late on this, but my opinion is that the purpose of basal rate testing is to test your basal rates based on normal activity and fasting. Normal activity for you includes biking to/from work, so I would just conduct the testing on a day...

Hey Terry, awesome race! You handled that initial BG drop well, and persevered, both with the running and the BG's. I don't know exactly why we do it either. Like you, I have been passed by the top marathoners whilst running a 1/2 at what was a go...

I received my recall letter and box of sets from MM yesterday. All my sets were from Lot 8, and looking back on it, I've been having a lot more trouble than usual with knocking down highs. Some of my correction boluses seemed to have absolutely no...

Not Now!!!!

I'm a pet sitter, and arrived a little early at a new client's home for our "meet and greet", so decided to sit in the car for a few minutes. I started to feel a little funky, so checked my blood sugar. It was 45! Lovely to think of going in to meet a new client sweating, shaking, and not thinking clearly. Just great. So I popped some glucose tabs and sport beans, and prayed that my BG would come up fast (10 minutes until I was supposed to meet with her). Wait, wait, wait.....test....65. Good en… Continue

Pushing Limits

I ran 7 miles this morning! While this is not particularly remarkable in the grand scheme, to me it is because it is the longest I have ever run. It is also remarkable because I was able to hold my blood sugar nice and steady (140, 117, 117, 143) using a new carb source (sport beans) and a 50% basal rate. It was also great because I tried out my new Amphipod belt, which holds two 8 oz. water bottles, my glucose meter, test strips, lancing device, sport beans, $10 bill, and last but not least a f… Continue

Embracing Technology

So I've seen tudiabetes for a while now, and was reluctant to join. It looked cool, but I have a tendency to push back against all forms of new technology at first. Now that I'm here, I see that it's pretty easy, and lots of fun. Just people connecting with others based on the common bond of diabetes.

I loved Star Trek as a kid (OK, as an adult too), so you would think that I'd jump on the bandwagon more easily. As in: Why did I resist getting an insulin pump for so long? Why did it ta

HI! Looking forward to meeting you face to face. It was so great to talk with Melissa - she has alot of the same thoughts and attitudes I've developed about various Diabetes related things. I'm sure you'll be in the same mind set from reading your notes!

Well, I've survived (?) a year as a T1. My weight is good, my health is good, my Alc- well, better, though not as good as I would desire - the learning curve you know!

I'm not sure I'm ready for a pump though you and Melissa both seem very pleased with yours. It might take me a little while to embrace that. Figure I've gotten used to the pens so we have some progress.

Nice to have a dog lover in my friends list! We have a 5 year old Golden that is such a sweetheart. Smart too!

Talk to you more later! -Carla

PTP,

Very curious about how your half-marathon went. Give us the scoop at the group message board - the ups and downs as it were.

Hi

I am only saposed to work 27.5 hours. 5.5 hours a day, but they pushed us becaue we got presidiots day off last monday ad wantd to bill hours to the company that is paying us to do the marketing. Plus I can't really go down in pay, they are not payg me all that much. Just going to have to set some things for them to keep me healthy. The beter myhealth is, the better I can perform. Going to have to let them know that if they try to squeeze evry drop from me, that it may be a short squeeze the way they did it. I just cant do that anymore and is the reason I work for this company from my home.

Everyone at CORA is disabled and works from home. I think that they put alot of faith in this new idiot in office in washington and are now suffering like everyone esle is and are having trouble dealing with it. Electing this bum was a bad thing and now everyone will pay for it. But anyway.

Yea, just got to set some groundwork with this employer and myself. I think it is going to be ok, just got to get through it.

Thanks for readign my blog and commeting.

I wish you well

Robert
