And you are asking about the difference between type 1 and type 2? And you want to know what to eat for breakfast? You need to take personal resp…"

Carolyn,

You are responding to the wrong person. It was bsc who made that comment, not me. bsc said that I was being nice & he questioned you.

To answer your question about Dr. Bernstein, you can get his book Diabetes Solution at Amazon. He also has a book with recipes, but it's not worth the money. You can find far better recipes at any low carb recipe site.

Hi, Carolyn, I had the heel spurs too about 15 years ago. I had the shots, therapy. Of course you have to give up high heels, and wear athletic shoes with good arch support. I also used orthotics, a specially made insert. What happened to meis, one day, I woke up, and they were gone and never came back. I know, it sounds too good to be true after all that time of waking up and feeling like I had someone pounding 10 penny nails in my heels. I know how painful they are!

As for the breakfast - here - is one discussion we had. There are many. If you go to the "Forum", and then choose "food and Eating " and then Search for "breakfast" you will find other old discussions on the topic. I've been around here for quite a while, and I can help you find things. We are here to help each other. Together we are so much stronger than trying to deal with diabetes alone.

Hi carolyln, Yes I'm a T2. My sugars were up to about 280-300 at one time. Doctor put me on Byetta along with my Metformin. Byetta is not insulin but it is a shot. I take it twice a day. It seems to help. When I get high I find that a brisk walk and plenty of water brings my sugar down a bit. Good luck.

Welcome to Tu Diabetes (not part of Welcoming Committee). I regret I am not familiar with symlin. It appears I am insulin resistant because I require a lot of it to get results; 80 of lantus at night & approximately 50 units novolog with meals. I have heard that using Levamir (sp) instead of Lantus may reduce the possibility of weight gain. I have had T2 diabetes about 16 years. I don't know whether you should advocate for insulin now. It really depends on how well you are managing your diabetes. What was your last A1c? I just switched off orals in March 2009 and will shortly be getting next A1c results. Btw, was your most recent fasting bloodwork 285 mg/dl?
