I've never been a huge data tracker, but lately I've had a renewed interest. Besides bloodsugar, meal-related data (carbs/insulin), and activity level, what other kinds of data do you find useful to…Continue

chrisgonzalez replied to dino's discussion 'Are you the chosen one? ... Type 1, that is.'
"This type of nonsense is so frustrating! What non-diabetics don't get is that they will only notice diabetes at times you have problems (hypo, hyper). It is so convenient for them to say "oh you shouldn't have given that much…"

"I don't use any. My most recent A1C is 5.5 so I am doing something right. Once my honeymoon period ends I'll probably start tracking it but most of me readings are between 70-140 so I don't feel the need to track."

"Hi, I like the medhelp trackers. They have a diabetes tracker. I use it to track, blood sugar, insulin dose, activity, carbs. But I have to count the carbs separately, which I do on their food tracker."

Jason replied to chrisgonzalez's discussion 'What kinds of data do you track?'
"Just about none. My pump and glucose sensor track a lot of data on their own and I examine it every three months at my doctor appointment. My A1c stays below 7 and I don't stress out about every number that comes across my meter or pump screen.…"

FHS replied to chrisgonzalez's discussion 'What kinds of data do you track?'
"That's cool, but I'm trying to understand how you handle your carb/insulin ratio data. You use your carb/insulin to determine your dose for a given meal but what guidelines do you use to determine, retroactively, if it was the correct dose…"

Type 1 since I was 5 and recently diagnosed with the thyroiditis... always doing the balancing act. It's nice to come to a place where I can say "65 and dropping" and not have to explain what diabetes is or how insulin works or what that number means, but to have people understand what it's like in a very real sense. I've never been part of any diabetes group, in real life or online, so far everyone has been friendly and some of the conversations on here are great.

Ok so about me, I am a grad student at Georgia Tech studying Human-Computer Interaction. I play music (guitar mostly, bass, drums), record and mix music, do design and web stuff, social etc. and manage diabetes. So far it has been going well, but I'm only 21 years in on the betes, hopefully another 40 or 50 to go.

I would love to hear from some fellow type 1's (new or veteran!)! I'm a good listener and we already have at least one thing in common. :)
