I just had my 6th trigger finger (left thumb) repaired last week. The cortisone injections typically last about 3-6 months for me, but this time it didn't make a dent. The surgery took about 1/2 an hour, longer to get prepped than to have the surg...

My Dr. visit.

Just went to the Joslin Center today. The doctor took me off of Byetta and now I'm on insulin. Using Novolog 70/30. Never used this before. Also my AC1 was 8.7 today. Is there anyone else who is familiar with Novolog? Little scared, since I never been on insulin before.

last visit to endo

went to Endo in Oct. AC1 as 7.8. Where I go for my appt the office closed and now in between the old and new one. They have a new Joslin Center that just opened here and going there in January. So this should be interesting when I go to it.

Hey - for a moment there I thought you said - 'Have a great dane' - my puppy is a cavalier king charles spaniel! But (like me) he is so lovanle and sweet. Thanks for your message - so many have from TU have sent lobely messages - you are a very supportive group. Easter is only 10 minutes away from being over for this year - I cheated and had some REAL chocolate this year. Surprisingly it isn't too bad on the blood sugars.
Iknow, I know - I should be taken outside and beaten with a big stick, but being dietarily repressed for a year means it has gotta break out somewhere.
Gope your easter was great - puppy (Mr Kouie) did very well for himself - he really knows how to ;work; the finner table - especially when we have visitors!

regards

Hi Charliesmom, Thanks for welcoming me to the community. It has taken me awhile to find my way around the community; sorry for the delay in replying. I read today with interest your "My Dr. visit" post about going to the Joslin Center. I'm not familiar with the Center but intend to look into it--as you know, I live in MD too. However, the Center is not conveniently located to me. You wrote that you were a "little scared" about being on insulin. Initially, I was on Levemir 8 then 4 units at bedtime. About two weeks ago I started Januvia. Although I haven't had any problems with the Januvia, such as upper respiratory infection, headache or stuffy/runny nose and sore throat reported by others, kidney problems and unknown possible side effects scare me as Januvia is a new drug. Plus, some others in the community seem to think Januvia is not a good drug to be on--I've requested more input; I value their opinions. Anyway, I preferred being on insulin but my fasting (and after dinner bs too I believe) readings were increasing on it. I may seek a third opinion at the Joslin Center (second opinion recommended increasing insulin) as I would like to keep my remaining pancreatic cells, beta and alpha, in case a cure for diabetes comes along. However, I must admit that it is easier to pop a pill once a day than to go through the injection routine once a day. How are you doing on insulin? Has there been an improvement in your A1C. Keep me posted. Best regards, Lucy
