Hi Marty, I don't want to make it sound like having type 1 is a cakewalk, cause it's not... but family support, and having someone who stands up for you when you can't do it for yourself, is a good thing. I've had type 1 for 20 years now (I'm 25...

I drink only one big cup of coffee a day (in the morning) and drink it with Splenda and creamer. My sugar is usually on the low side in the AM so the creamer gives me a boost. I also read somewhere that caffeine is good for diabetic lows... can't ...

Hi Sweeter :) When I was younger, my Mom would always give me one gluco tab, and immediately follow with a cheese sandwich (not grilled, just plain cold cheese sandwich boo... this is why I really don't like cold cheese sandwiches now!), and if i...

Jeff, yup! I've had one awesome awesome doctor in college (she was working at the school's health facility). She walked me through everything, nagged and laughed and was just always there. When my A1c dropped to below 7 after being over 8 the whol...

Laura, thank you very much for the suggestion! I looked up Dr. Zapata and I'm quite willing to drive to Huntington Beach just to see the GP every 4 months :) Anything for a good doctor :) I will try my current GP one more time and if that doesn't ...

I am part of the Welcome Committee and was just checking in on you to make sure you are aware of all that TuDiabetes has to offer. We would love to hear from you so here is a helpful link where you can read about all the things you can do in the community.

Hi Chiara, I wouldn't be too worried about having a healthy child.I am a type 1 and when I decided to start a family I made sure my control was good and ate the right foods and tested alot. The doctor wanted me to test before and 2 hours after eating. They put me on prenatal vitamins and took good care of me.My 2 sons are 14&16 years old and were born healthy. They are both in high school and excel in their studies.I worried about the outcomes of my pregnancies too.As it turned out I could have relaxed.

Hi chiaranjoo,
Welcome to the TuDiabetes family!

I recommend you change your username to something without your email address. There's nothing wrong with having it on the site, but you are exposing your email address to more people than just the members of the community, as the site is public.

To change this, click on the Settings link on the top right, below your name.

Take care and hope that you find all the support and information you came looking for.

Hey! Thanks for the encouragement. I appreciate it. Yes, although on the higher side, my AICs have been consistent, and my hope is that is will gradually drop. I know my doctor will celebrate when that happens, but probably not as much as yours. What a privilege it must be to have a doctor like that!!

Welcome to tudiabetes. I'm glad you're here :)
