"Hi, when you say Original Dex, are you referring to the Dexcom7plus? Each year my Ins. pays for a new CGM. I'll be getting the new G4 in about April. I believe the CGM is great although there is loads of room for improvement. Do you still feel…"

"Terry- new to this website but not diabetes. (20+ yrs T1DM) just got the G4 a week ago and I'm really liking it a lot too. (I did a trial run on the 7+) question to you and anyone else about extending the use of the sensors: I have heard that…"

"Carey - I'm now 42 days into using the G4. My current sensor is on day 15. My first fingerstick this morning was 93 mg/dl and the G4 read 85 mg/dl. I agree with your review based on your first sensor. Overall I am very happy with its…"

Dexcom G4 review, compared to original

Just started with the G4 this past weekend, and wanted to give a brief review compared to the orginal Dexcom, in case anyone is on the fence about upgrading. The executive summary is that so far, the G4 has been far better than the original, and the form factor/range is also much better.Rcvr Size: Looking at the raw numbers when comparing the two is deceiving. In actual use, the G4 receiver is now thin enough to not be a bother when stored in a jeans pocket with my car keys. It seems to be less…See More

"If you would wear the sensor until it failed you would see the signal get stronger and then after some length of time you would start seeing it drop giving false lows. This is normal for the currant technology, try doing a cal every 6 or 8 hours for…"

Dexcom always reads high for days after starting

Hi All,I've lurked for a while, but just joined up, mainly because I have noticed an irritating trend with my Dexcom.I've had the Dexcom for about a year now, and it's generally been good. I always insert in the morning (always in my belly), and try to keep my sugars stable during the startup period. I only calibrate when sugars are stable, and never in the morning (to give it time to normalize after I've rolled around on it all night :-) I almost always do 2 finger sticks to make sure my meter…See More
