Some people don't like to be attached to a piece of equipment all the time, for some it makes diabetes visible.

I put one in before I go to bed and let it "soak" all night and then when i wake up I will start the new sensor, the more fluid on it the better off you are.

4 months ago my dr found the start of kidney damage. It was very slight, so he put me on lisinopril, last month on my lab work the kidney damage didn't show up.

I just wrap it around.......oh, nevermind. :)

when I need to shorten my 43" tubing I tie it in gentle knots. The double walled construction keeps it from shutting off the flow of insulin, even if it's tied into a reasonably tight knot.

random updates

Monday I am supposed to starting working at a nursing home full time.
Whitney is up to 8.6 now, but she has been throwing up, I mean projectile vomiting so I called her doctor and got her in there today. She has to go for an ultrasound tomorrow to rule out pyloric stenosis.
If she has this, she will have to have surgery. Whitney could also just simply having the flu, but the doctor wants to make sure she doesn't have pyloric stenosis since she is a preemie as this is more common in preemies.
I h… Continue

Rant

I am so sick of well meaning people who think they know about diabetes because they have a friend with it and think they have the right to lecture me when I state I have a low blood sugar or tell me I am eating to many carbs or eating to many calories. Right now I am breast feeding and it is taking a toll on my blood sugars. I am not taking any bolus insulin before meals and I have reduced my basal insulin by 50% and I am still having lows several hours after eating meals even with a lot of carb… Continue

back in MO

Whitney got out of the NICU on Wed and Wed afternoon she saw Dr. A to make sure she was safe to travel so off we went Wed evening to head to MO. We got home on Thurs. evening. I do have to say I LOVE what breast feeding is doing to my blood sugars. I am just sticking with my basal amounts of insulin, no boluses at meal times and my blood sugar is between 80-100 and I am eating carbs and still not going to high. They told me I needed to be on a 2600 calorie diet right now. I can see why after wha… Continue

Whitney is doing wonderful

Whitney is doing amazing. She started out on 5 ccs of formula yesterday and she is up to 20 ccs today and she isn't throwing any up. To be off the iv fluids and to be released she has to take 25 ccs and she will be up to that tomorrow. She is also maintaining her own body temperature so she might be out of the covered isolet tomorrow and into a crib, again a step closer to release.

Cody, I just ready your profile and it appears you're on the same pump and CGM system that I am--Medtronic. Since I'm new I don't know how to deal with leaving it in overnight and then starting it up.

Hi, Cody, just a note to let you know I'm still alive. Luckily. Back in February, I ad open heart surgery(5 bypasses). Two days later my kidneys shut down. My docs put me in a coma, put me on a respirator, and within 7 days, my kidneys kicked back in. Then, I went on dialysis three days a week for seven weeks. What is it about surgery tha knocks your BG out of kilter? Anyway, in the last two weeks I have been denied a pump by CCS Medical and medtronic. Why? My C-peptide result was FOUR TENTHS OF ONE POINT over their requirement. I won't give up!

Baby looks beautiful!

I don't think changing drs is an option, his endo is part of the Children's Hospital of WI, and being in the Milw. area, it's about a 25 min drive there for us. They are our only choice, I think most diabetic children in WI drive to get their care there, no matter how long the drive. We are working on upping the Lantus to try to even him out. If that doesn't work, I'm going to talk to them about splitting the doses for sure.

I 'm sorry everyone of my favorites got mad at me but I had been talked town to and told how stupid we were one time to many. He smarted off one Thursday and I walked out. My life has been so much better no Blood pressure, heart or anxiety medication sine the day I left. I really hated to leave all of you but it was a matter of health for me the cardiologist had already told me to get out of the stress. I wasn't allowed any of my patients phone numbers or any way to contact any of my friends. I'm so sorry that I didn't get to be a part of your preganacy. As much crap as you have put me through and I missed Whitney.Lol Good luck and congrats again. stay in contact I want to see that little bundle of joy grow up send pictures.

Cody, thank you for your encouragement and your advice about my pregnancy. It is good to hear that there are people out there who know what I'm going through, and who have come through it healthy, and with a healthy baby. (She's beautiful, by the way!!) How were you blood sugars throughout the pregnancy, not knowing that you were pregnant? I may call on you for advice and such now and then throughout the next 9 months. lol.
Congrats on your beautiful baby girl!
