$150 a month I can definitely afford. Someone else had told me that it was more like $600 a month, so that is what has me really nervous.

Diabetes Research Institute 2.0 - My 2 Cents

On Saturday I had the opportunity to go to the Diabetes Research Institute's 2.0 Connecting the Community. I was lucky enough to meet Manny there at this event. There were some big time d-bloggers there and a lot of great information there. Check out my blog for my 2 cents on it.

I'm sure the other people will be giving more information as well.

Back on the Job Hunt

Well, I am back on the hunt for a new job. My 2 1/2 year stint that I had with the diabetes company I was working has ended as of Tuesday. The main thing that I am concerned about is picking up insurance. If anybody has any information on Cobra for me, please send it over to me, any information at all that you may have. I will try to keep you all updated on how things are going.

Thank you for any help any of you may have.

A New Baby in my Life

Today was a great day, my first niece was born. Sylvia was born at about 3:30 in the morning. It is my brother's first child, so therefore my first niece. It still hasn't sunk in yet because they live in PA and I haven't been able to get up there and meet my new little niece.

As soon as I get new pictures of her, I will put them up. She was a healthy little baby girl, I don't remember the size or weight, I get them confused. What can I say, I'm a guy who knows nothing about babies.

I had a chance to interview the local events coordinator for my local chapter of JDRF, the Greater West Palm Beach Chapter. Her daughter also lives with diabetes, but how she became involved with JDRF and how her daughter was diagnosed has a little weird story to it. Here is my interview:

1. How long have you been with JDRF?

* I’ve been with JDRF for 10 years.

2. How did you get started?

* I’ve worked for another non-profit in the past (St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital) and so I know ho… Continue

Living as a diabetic vs. dying of diabetes

I trully believe, as majority of you do as well, that you can control your diabetes and not let your diabetes control you. After saying the word diabetic a lot the past few days, I realized that the word die is said a lot. So, I've decided to go with "live"-abetic. Read the rest of my thoughts at The Life of a Diabetic.

Hi Chris,
Thank you for the support and advice.
I did a CGM last year before I got the pump. It was helpful in figuring out how to adjust my pump, but for some reason certain foods work for me on certain days and time randomly,lol.... Anyway I'm really glad that both you and Cathy gave me some motivation just by responding to my blog...
I hope you are doing well..

Hey Chris. Nice to see you here! I rec'd your email and I'll be responding this week - it's been wild at work (and at home, for that matter) lately, so my brain has been in mild-meltdown mode.

I'll be adding you to my blogroll over the next week - doing some quick revamps at the moment. :O)
