Melons

Trying to see what melons are good for diabetes. My favorite is cantalope with cottage cheese.

"I've been T1 for more than 36 years. I eat lots of fruit, and love melon. Mostly cantalope and watermelon, also honeydew. I wait until melons are ripe before I open them. The carb content for all foods is freely available LINK HERE"

"Gerri's got it---eat and test. Took me a lot of testing, but berries are the only fruit I can eat without a big spike. Occasionally, on Amtrak's Empire Builder, I will have a single wedge of cantaloupe and cherish it. But not regularly.…"

"Just because one person says they don't eat much fruit doesn't mean that needs to be your answer also. At least make an informed choice. I just plugged in one serving of 3.6 oz cantaloupe (large, according to site) to calorieking.com and…"

"Hard to say about fruit because it depends on the degree of ripeness. Personally, I don't think quantities of fruit are good because of the nature of how fructose is metabolized by the body. Eat & test is the only way to know what works…"
