About me...

I'm Mike Jackson (not the "Thriller" guy), and I'm a 12-yr vet of the Type 1 Diabetes game. I'm married to a wonderful lady and we have three wonderful kids.

I'm here to learn about becoming an athlete whilst dealing with this lame-o pancreas of mine. I went on the CozMore pump in January of 2008 and it has really improved my BG control. I'm not where I want to be (A1C of 6.0-6.5), but I'm getting there. I love to cycle, and want to learn how to maintain good blood glucose levels while doing my rides. And losing a little of the potbelly wouldn't hurt either...

Cheers all, Mike

Hi Mike. Not new to pumping, but the overnight basal testing has always been a challenge for me. It takes many, many tries to get 2 of them done to look at a pattern (if it takes so long, is it really a "pattern"?). Frustrating! Before TuD, I didn't know anyone (for 30 years) who's also D, and I would give up. But now, I can look for help from others. :) MUCH better this way!! Happy Friday!!

Mike,
I was amazed by the "12 Years of Fingersticks" photo you posted. VERY powerful.

BTW, it made me think: soon (Sept. 28) we will be launching an initiative where we will invite all members to post a video sharing their life with diabetes in 2-3 minutes seen through one of their senses. It occurred to me that, if you feel comfortable talking in front of a webcam/video camera, you could talk about what 12 years of poking does to your fingers.

What do you think?

Hey Mike, I'm a 4 handicap, but I haven't played since I was diagnosed about 2 months ago, so I'm sure it will go up a little when I start playing again. drive for show, putt for dough and have fun out on the course.

Thanks for looking into ways that my brother might get a pump. I sent the information along to him. Also got a wrist slap from tudiabetes saying that exchange of pumps or other prescription items on this site is prohibited.
