Weight loss can certainly be a concern, but the exercise will keep your Insulin sensitivity high, which will reduce your need for exogenous Insulin. I also have found that I can eat quite a bit more as long as I am consistant with my workouts, I do eat much smaller portions than I did before diagnosis, but now I eat every 3-4 hours during the day. I maintain the proper weight and I am not hungry all the time:) I really enjoy almonds between meals, as they provide a great low glycemic/low carb snack with just enough fat to satisfy.

Welcome to the Honeymooner's, I am 23 months and counting since diagnosis. I am currently at 5.7 A1C, and controlling with diet and exercise, with an occassional shot. The first couple of months were a rollercoaster ride, but with the help of Family, Freinds and especially Tudiabetes, I made it through thus far.
I wish that I had found this sight earlier, you already have a leg up, finding this sight so early. Exercise is your best friend, and it will get easier.

Welcome:)
Michael

Welcome to the family! On this forum you will learn so much. Most of all you will learn that you are not alone. Everyone here is supportive and will provide answers to your questions. Search the site for answers. Read the discussions and blogs for information. There are videos to help you understand diabetes and its treatment. Most of all there is family to talk to and even to vent to, if needed. Welcome home.
