Hi danielle, I was 12 when I became a T1. I have a lot of family on my fathers side that have T1 also. It was easier, I guess because I wasn't alone, my father and otherfamily understood what was going on and the terminology we use. When we would go to dinner we would say could you get us a table quick, we have 4 (or 5 or however many) diabetics that have already taken insulin. My husband used to like to use that one when there was a long wait. With the pump we don't do that though. Talk to you soon! Linda
