Hi Deb,

Thanks for adding me to your friends. I see that you are a very experience pump user. This has been a wild ride from having uncontrollable diabetes to having the pump bring my glucose levels back down to normal, while testing more often, remembering to bolus on time, and learning which foods are safe and which I'm too carb sensitive to eat. But my family has been highly supportive, and the encouragement and personal examples of the friends here on TuDiabetes has made all the difference.

Oh Deb, just had a week! My loving hubby get's 10 stiches in his finger on Sunday, my dad's fighting for his life now that the chemo has stopped and then my husband breaks his toe! Done nothing but make me run a high bs all week! Stress and diabetes don't work so well together so I'm getting to pay for it! LOL! Don't tell me to change out sites! Been there, done that EVERYDAY and it's still high! I did finally fall to 56 last night but those 400's were hurting me! Now I'm just buying time til the next time I check it!!! I think a nice massage would work! You know the kind where you leave EVERYTHING outside of that room? Yeah like that's going to happen anytime soon! LOL!

I've been pumping for 20 years. You will adjust to it quickly, I'm sure. make sure you rotate sites with care, to avoid scar tissue. you'll probably be testing your blood more often. there are lots of discussions here about infusion sets, adhesives, basal rates, just about everything. have fun looking around the forums, and let me know if I can help you find anything here.

Yep I'm a pumper. I've been a Type 1 since 10 years old and been a pumper for like 22 years now. I really can't say that I gained that much weight from the pump. Seeing I was 3 months pg when I went on it but.............................Yep major weight gain during that time HA! I love the pump b/c now I get more of a choice when to eat in other words don't have to eat at 8,12,and 5 with those 3 snacks thrown in. I've had a pump so long that I don't think I could survive on the shots again. Oh I did take 3 years off from it when I hads a pancres transplant that was suppost to "cure" the diabetes but alas it came back so...........
