I have to agree that as a young person you have to be careful with what you get because in 10, 20, or 30 years you will not be same person you are now. I have six tats and I think that the body is a canvas to be drawn on, so have fun but remember ...

Hi Dennis, Sorry for such a delay in reply, I've been moving and trying to break some of my addiction to the internet! Happy belated Birthday. I hope you are doing well with your commitment to stop smoking. I used to smoke, quit for several years, and sometimes smoke for a month or two. It is never easy to quit!! And good luck with doing more to take care of your diabetes. That is a big change too. I did not do well the first six or so months after I had to do injections, but am now better on track. Feel free to write any time for support. I'll check in here more often.

I've had such a busy weekend that I'm just now getting to email let alone give this site the attention it deserves. Thanks again for passing this site on to me!

Hi Dennis, I read your comments of the other day and then went to your profile. I am in St. Louis but had so many of the same feelings you did. I was diagnosed in Dec 08 and still somtimes wonder if I could treat this some other way than with the insulin I take. I have changed my way of eating considerably therefore with the insulin my numbers are much better. I just get tired of the same old thing. Since I was such a sweet eater and really don't like protein that much I have had to find new ways of fulfilling the diabetic diet. Your numbers don't look all that bad to me. sounds as if you have it under control. I am sure your wife has a lot to do with that. Good Luck and keep the good work up. By the way, what was your A1c reading? If you would like to correspond please do. I am always looking for midwesterners to talk to. Have a good day.

HI Dennis and welcome to TuDiabetes!

I don't know of any groups in the Olathe area but I stay in Mission, Kansas and currently belong to the KCK Diabetics group here on Tu. I'll keep my eyes peeled for any info on groups in the area so I can pass it on ( and participare of course).

Hope you are doing great!
