Almost Dying in Your Sleep = Scary

Last night sucked.

http://diabeticallymindnumbing.blogspot.com/2012/01/almost-dying-in-your-sleep-scary.html

I'm not exaggerating on this one. I almost died last night. My blood sugar was low enough that I was cold sweating and completely unresponsive to my wife trying to wake me up at 0300. Somehow she was able to kick me hard enough to get me into a stuper and into the…

Obsessed is how the lazy describe the dedicated.

It is hard to imagine anything more pointless and soul-crushing than the thought that we are just marking time here on Earth while waiting for our real lives to begin after we die. Whatever meaning life has surely arises in part from the fact that it is finite. You have only so many years in which to cram as much experience, learning, love, friendship or whatever else it is that gives you satisfaction, so you had better make every moment count.

We had a good time at the ADA Tour de Cure! Samantha was one of a few Red Riders -- Team Type 1 was there & they're just awesome. Sam wanted to try 40 miles, but she couldn't make it. Too many hills. She & my sister called the car following riders to get picked up around 30 miles. It was kind of funny because the medic checked Sam out (BG around 80, so not bad) and they were radioing the start tent: "We've got a Red Rider down!" So she got checked out by a doctor, but she was ok, just tired. Two cheeseburgers got her back on track. I know umping is in full swing now - Sam gets her cast off Tuesday, so hopefully we'll get her back in action by late June!!

I clicked around on that guy's info & it's strange, because he seems a little hesitant in telling people to participate in trials, but he went all out for that one & even lost his wife. So his message is mixed. I'd say our experience has been pretty positive, even with the news that Defend 1 didn't succeed. That was a sad day, but overall, the trial has been good for us - especially getting to see the doctor & nurse so often right after diagnosis.

Hey, Sam had a drop to 30 today after Percoset and a nap. She took a couple Percoset yesterday after the surgery and did ok. Do you think pain pills cause a drop or is it the pain/stress? She went to school today with her arm in a sling.
