"Plastic sandwich bag would certainly work. For more durability, you could get a cell-phone sized drybag. Just search for "cell phone waterproof" on Amazon and you'll see a ton of options for ~$15."

Andy commented on Rob's group 'Dexcom Users'
"They changed the title: http://jdrf.org/blog/2014/notjustagadget/ It has this interesting sense of "hey, that's who pays us!" I also noticed their mission statement: "JDRF is the only global organization with a strategic plan to…"

Andy commented on Mike Campana's group 'Cycling Diabetics'
"I moved from NY to WA and got a jumpstart on the season! It may be rainy here, but there's a huge difference between 50f and 35f when it's raining. I joined a randonneuring club and got in a 200km and 300km ride last month. I signed up for…"

Andy replied to Aussie's discussion 'Downloading data' in the group Dexcom Users
"I've traveled across time zones many times (and daylight savings 2x a year). I just change the time on the Dexcom as necessary, and it continues to work as it always does. I'm not sure what more you are expecting from it. Can you clarify…"

Andy replied to Aussie's discussion 'Downloading data' in the group Dexcom Users
"When you change the time on the Dexcom, it appears to shift the time rather than skip back/forward. This means that you'll never have overlapping readings because of a time change. When you travel back 10 hours to your original time, it will…"

Andy replied to Gayle Kodimer Mckenna's discussion '1st restart (day 7) and getting ??? right away!' in the group Dexcom Users
"I had heard anecdotes about hydration. Whenever my numbers seem a little off, it's a good reminder to have a glass of water though. Who knows if it actually helps, but it surely doesn't hurt."

Andy replied to Gayle Kodimer Mckenna's discussion '1st restart (day 7) and getting ??? right away!' in the group Dexcom Users
"It happens. Just stay hydrated and keep the unit in range and it will likely sort itself out eventually."

"Shawnmarie, you can always prebolus a smaller amount too. I often just take 2u when I know I'll be eating in a little bit, and then once I've dug in and have an idea of how much I'll be eating, I can load up on more insulin while the…"

Andy commented on Rob's group 'Dexcom Users'
"Finding a few readings a bit off is very likely to be user error. Did you enter a calibration while you weren't relatively level? Did you wash your hands before testing? If you test a few more times does that average reveal a better…"

Andy commented on Rob's group 'Dexcom Users'
"It will light up asking for a calibration; doesn't mean that it's required so I just ignore it. For me, 20 to 30 points off is very rare when I'm in a fairly normal range. If I'm rather high, I just know it's high, and it…"

Andy commented on Rob's group 'Dexcom Users'
"I calibrate only a few times a week. Once the Dexcom is in its groove, I only test if I don't trust the number (like knowing I had juice and it doesn't go up). Too often I tested to find it was dead on anyway, so I cut down on using…"

Andy replied to danadoll63's discussion 't:Slim Questions' in the group Tandem T:Slim Users

Andy commented on Jigga's group 'Tandem T:Slim Users'
"In essence, all the pumps are fairly similar. We can comment about minute differences, but they all get the job done well. I switched to Tandem simply because they were the newest. I formerly had an Animas and loved it, but just look at the history…"

Andy replied to Anthony's discussion 'Infusion Set every 3 days - T:Slim cartridge every 6 days?' in the group Tandem T:Slim Users
