hey marie Thank you for your birthday wish, I am 48 years old now. and I haven't been on trudiabetes in a while but so much has happened since I was on last. I often thought about comming back and sharing but wasn't sure wether to put it on a forum or what?

first of all I have been exercising like crazy!! the doctor said My cholestrol and sugar was high and that I was a candidate for a heart attack. so that motivated me. starting in october I began to take my dogs on hour long walks, then I would come home and climb 27 steps 15 times at once, then I would finish with floor exercises like sit ups, crunches, push ups, leg lifts, pelvic thrust. my doctor told me to loose at least 12 lbs, I told her I would loose 20. well I never weighed myself until I saw the doctor again three months later, she weighed me and I had lost 30 lbs!!!! I am no longer weighing over 200lbs like before. its so exciting to say I am not 200 lbs. I have been trying to get off that 200 lbs mark for years. and on new years day I succeeded yes!!!

I have been selected to attend classes for people living with diabetes, and I am learning a lot about this disease. the reason I believe I was successful this time at loosing weight, was because I watched my serving size. before If I saw a can of soup had 110 calories I would assume the whole can was 110 calories but the serving size is just one cup. it took me awhile to understand that the 1 cup serving is 110 calories and not the whole can.

so now I eat only the amount of one cup, and I cook reciepes that have less than 100 calories per cup. by the way I have a really delicious Cabbage and chicken soup recipe that has only 80 calories per cup serving size.

so that is what I have been up to, that and the many problems and stress I face having an autistic son. his life presents with many ups and downs and my mood and stress level go up and down with him. right now he is going great in school.
