I can't keep my eyes off my pump...

My four years were up and was able to upgrade to the medtronic 522 and along with it got insurance approval (thanks Anthem) for the continuous glucose monitor, I've been on it for about a week and am really having fun with it. Nothing like looking down at the pump and being able to see an approximation (very important distinction) of what your BG is and in what direction its heading. Generally I get pretty good correspondence between the sensor readings and my meter readings but occasional they… Continue

Long time diabetic, first time blogger...

First a bit about myself:

Most of it is right there on the left side of the page.

I'm a pediatric nurse practitioner practicing in beautiful Keene, NH. Our group (seven providers total) cares for approximately 8,000 children and adolescents - approximately 1500 of which consider me their primary provider. While all my patients are special, I've got to admit, their are seven of them - for a reason I'm sure you can all figure… Continue

Hi Eric- Of course I had to comment - I want to get my NP eventually (slowly working on that). I bet your "kids" absolutely LOVE you! Nobody understands like someone who's walked a mile in your shoes (:

Eric

We're almost neighbors. I'm in north Massachusetts. Please have a look at the US Northeast group on the last page of Groups. The endo that I see is in St. Josephs in Nashua, NH.

And welcome to TuDiabetes.

Eric,

I live right down the road from Keene, over the MA border. My mom lives in an assisted living facility in Keene, so I've had a lot of experience with your local hospital which is excellent. Especially for so small a town.

I'm of shocked to think there are 8,000 children and adolescents in your service area! Is it all of Southwestern NH? Even so. That's far too many!

Something really strange is going on that has increased the incidence of Type 1 astronomically in the past decade or so. I remember knowing a grand total of one person with Type 1 in Franklin County MA in the 1970s.

oh, PS, I was a staff member from I think 88 to 91before getting the camp director gig, when Shelley Yeager became Executive Director.

I do remember Michelle :) In fact, I was looking at camp pics the other day and came across one of her, and one of her little sister Kerry. I saw her and her husband at a Joslin Camp Acution probably 7 or 8 years ago. She is still in the Boston area, but I'm not sure where.

Hey Eric, you are close. I was actually camp director from, oh... 1991 to 1995?

I'm also (in)famous for marrying John Palmer
