Hi Anna... I was diagnosed at age 12 and I am the one that actually chose not to have kids. It was a very hard decision to make, but I would do it again. I felt it was too much of a risk for me and the the child and didn;t want to put my family or...

Step Out to Fight Diabetes

I just have to say how proud I am of Bulloch County and our surrounding areas! We had our ADA Step Out walk today and just money in envelopes turned today we raised over $25,000! We had a HUGE turnout and I am just overwhelmed by how giving our community is.

Thanks to you ALL for your support of people living with diabetes!

ADA Golf Tourney

I just have to say that we had a wonderful tournament this past Friday! We raised over $6000.00 for the ADA to use for our local programs and national research for diabetes! It was a great deal of work, but it was well worth the efforts! Statesboro & the surrounding areas has some great and generous people!

I have to say a special thank you to all of our golfers, volunteers and sponsors! Without them, there would have been no tournament and nothing raised for research and local pro

My Support Group

I just have to say that my support group members are WONDERFUL! We had our big kick-off for our ADA Walk and we had several members from our support show up!

I just have to say how very proud I am of each and every one of our members for taking a stand against this disease and taking control of it. It's nice to know that something I do in life helps others...

THANKS to ALL of my group members! You ALL mean a great deal to me!

too old!

I have discovered that at the ripe old age of 34, I am WAY too old to be staying out at friends houses until 5 a.m. talking and playing cards. What makes me think that my body can handle this while having diabetes for over 22 years? I don't think that I'd be able to stay out that late even if I didn't have diabetes... what was I thinking?

Hi Penny - I don't know how I missed your kind words about us not having children due to our being diagnosed as brittle diabetics - but it made me feel good to read your words and not feel so bad. Hope you are doing alright and enjoying the summer! Take care.

Hello Penny, I have a question. I changed my infusion set out last night, and it bled like crazy when I took it out. now it has a bruise not quite as big as the round part of the tape that holds it to my tummy. Is that normal? Its the first time it happened. Should I change the set out every two days? I waited probably a little over 3 days on this one. Also, do you change the reservoir and the infusion set at the same time? Also, I apologize for playing 50 questions when I first got on this site. Like I say, I am new at this, but I'm learning. My page is really starting to take shape. Thanks again for your help.
