Suz replied to gbbassethound's discussion 'Issue with T:slim for type 2 with high insulin use' in the group Tandem T:Slim Users
"Yeah, that's what I was thinking. I usually eat less than 10 carbs a meal and since I graze more than I eat meals I expect managing stacking will be a bigger for me. Occasionally, though, I want some fries! :D"

Janice L Cotton replied to gbbassethound's discussion 'Issue with T:slim for type 2 with high insulin use' in the group Tandem T:Slim Users
"You won't have a problem with 30 carbs/day. You would have to bolus twice to eat a meal with more than 25 carbs....limit of 50 carbs/meal for you."

Suz replied to gbbassethound's discussion 'Issue with T:slim for type 2 with high insulin use' in the group Tandem T:Slim Users
"I did not know this either. My bolus using MDI is 1:1. I try to keep my carb intake very low because I've found that the insulin just doesn't work as well if I eat a lot of carbs, but even so, that's frustrating. I would never eat the…"

gbbassethound commented on Jigga's group 'Tandem T:Slim Users'
"Thanks Janice, yes I did mean max bolus issues. It/me are causing high BG levels but I guess the FDA is more worried about insulin overdosing than under-dosing. :-)"

"I have had mine for a couple of months now and doing very well. I do have a couple of issues with it but after researching I found it is actually the FDA putting limits on min. bolus issues (I'm a type 2 with a 1:1.5 insulin to carb ratio). I…"

Dexcom Users

For users of a Dexcom Continuous Glucose Monitoring ("CGM") deviceJust as a reminder with the recent release of the new Dexcom G4 to the US market--it is NOT okay to post about previous models or older sensors as being 'for sale' on this site.It is a violation of the Terms of Use because it is a prescription device, and any such efforts will unfortunately be removed. We encourage you to donate supplies to non-profits such as the Charles Ray III Diabetes Association (…See More

Janice L Cotton replied to gbbassethound's discussion 'Issue with T:slim for type 2 with high insulin use' in the group Tandem T:Slim Users
"My insulin to carb ratio is 1:7. I've only had 3 or 4 times when I exceeded the "governor" set by my Endo. I believe that all pumps have a FDA mandated maximum bonus limit. You ARE constrained by that I/C of 1:1.5. Yikes! My…"

Welcome to the family!! On this forum you will learn so much. Most of what you will learn is that you are not alone. Everyone here is supportive and will provide answers to your questions. Search the site for answers. Read the discussions and blogs for information. There are videos to help you understand diabetes and its treatment. Most of all there is family to talk to and vent to, if needed.
