I had a problem with a screen cover too, it removed a bit of the clear enamel or whatever it is just over the display, but it hasn't affected it otherwise. I guess I would recommend not using the generic PDA covers; the one I got from animas is wo...

for me its alot easier to manage hi fat foods with my ping insulin pump. for junk food, i like cheese curds and potato chips, and this requires a bit more insulin. milkfats will convert to sugar as they are digested, so a combo bolus, or a longer ...

This is an interesting topic, as I've had similar experiences. I cross referenced the ping with the one touch mini and have had results more than 20 points different. Usually only when BG is in the higher range does this happen, but meters are not...

Hi everyone!
I love music, food, art, science, math, technology, video games, literature, both underground and mainstream media and culture, and alternative medicine, not in any particular order.....
I don't always share that opinion of of my diabetes, but I am learning to love it more each and every day ;)
My dislikes include the two party system, cultural hegemony, dishonesty, nationalism and ignorance, and although I haven't always done my best to improve the world, I have taken strides in my own life, and hopefully that has had a positive effect on others.
I guess it's a work in progress... Special thanks to everyone on this website, I have benefited greatly from your help and all the info here, and I hope some of you have also benefited from my posts! :)

more blood test results...no way, not again! (beware, long rant ahead)...sometimes even good control is not so good...

A1C is 6.5, damnit it went up again! Im pissed! Up from 6.4... I guess it is pretty good considering at one pont in my life I scored a 13.5.
Did I care then? Honestly, not really. Then the BIG D started catching up with me. So I almost forced myself to have to take care of myself, backing myself into a big ugly wall, and now that I am on the pump, I can finally control this cursed disease a bit better. It truly is a curse, there is no better way I can describe it, and in doing so I can actually… Continue

the best sets for me

ive sorted out my problems with infusion sets, and find the comforts, and the contact detaches work best. i suppose the
manually insertable needle is best for me, since its what i am used to after so many years of injections. the insertion devices of the insets were more of a pain in the arse so to speak, ;) (although i havent actually used that area of my anatomy)
on another note, i sure hope our new pres. can accomplish some of the things he has campaigned for. we shall see. ive seen a few dif… Continue

1 day on the pump

BG is pretty stable, compared to the previous days, and all anxiety has given way to a relatively stable frame of mind, partially due to finally being on this thing, and also I imagine due to a concurrent tightening of the old CONTROL!
Despite my initial misgivings and suspicions, I too am immediately leaning towards the common
opinion which says "why did I wait so long!" Thanks for all the help to the bloggers here and there!
Many happy numbers to you all....

Thanks so much. It's funny, I just put in my first C-Detatch right before I logged on. The CDE from my pump start called and told me by phone plus like you, I looked at the booklet. I wasn't sure where to put the second part but it's fine and the set is very comfortable. Like you, I was trained on Insets and I hate them. I've had multiple problems and so have the Insets. They recalled a bunch of mine. They pull out immediately if you drop the pump. It doesn't swing at all - just comes out. Thanks for sharing your info as I was on my last nerve with Insets. I will also try to get a sample of the others you mentioned. Good luck to you too!

Hi GW, you are the man I need to talk to. I just saw your comments back in Jul about infusion sets to a girl asking about pumps. Okay, I've been pumping on the Ping a month and you are a man after my heart with your opinion of INSETS! I hate them and that's what I've been using. I've had different problems than you but Animas recalled one box plus two other individual sets. I get supplies from CCS and they have messed up two orders. Anyway, I won't go into all of it but as you know, if you drop your pump they pull out. They don't always go in, etc. I had a box that the clips would pull completely off when you took the needle cover or curled paper off. I hate them! I have some Contact Detatch. I'm suppose to send them back because they wanted me on 9mm but those bleed for an hr when removed so I'm sticking with 6mm as they go in fine. I guess they thought I was too fat but I've lost 12 lbs in a couple week period due to less insulin. That is what makes me gain. The 6mm do fine anyway. The CDE only showed me at my startup how to use Insets so I called the help line and asked them to talk me thru the Contact Detatch but they are not allowed unless I've been trained on them. I read the diagram and pamplet that is in the box. I think I can do it. Did you have to be trained on them and the Comforts? I ask you that because a woman at the helpline said she is going to call my CDE that di the start up and have her set up a meeting to show me several other infusion sets and train me as she could not believe all the problems when I told her. They keep a record anyway if you call with a problem so she could see that I'd only had infusion problems. Many of them! Do you suggest the Comforts as another one for me to try? Someone else mentioned a teflon canula for me to try. Did you try the Inset 30? They are suppose to be good for muscular or real thin or kids. I would even try that but gave the one that came with my pump, to the CDE the day she started my pump. She demos them so said I could not use it so I gave it to her. Now I wish I had it. I'm suppoe to return the Contact Detatch ones but now I don't know what to do. I've wasted so many Insets I'm going to run out before I get new supplies. Help GW!!! This is absolutely my only pumping problem.

Hiya,

As some of the others have recommended - try the angled infusion set. That's what I've been using forever. I originally started on the straight type too and found it to be almost painful. Hope your tubes and kinks and Ping challenges are getting smoothed out!
