Where do you get your calories?

In any strength sport, you need a considerable amount of calories to continue your gains. I'm a powerlifter, pretty novice and training for my fist meet. Before my dx (LADA), I was easily consuming 3500 - 4500 calories/day and making great gains in my lifts. Since, I cut out a lot. I drank a minimum of 1/2 gallon of milk and did pretty freely consumed carbs (though I limited this to mostly whole grains after prediabetes came up in my blood work). This has resulted in a rather large decrease in…See More

I completely agree with Donna's comment to you...about it becoming secoond nature, but let me add that even though you will adjust to the new "way of life", there will always be days that absolutely mystify you! Don't let those throw you...remember one very important thing above all...you are human!

Hey your right about this site! As I said we're all here to help. I can tell you this is just a thing to get used to. I've been a Type 1 for 38 out of my 48 years here on earth. I know that it all seems so over whealing but as you go on it will be as natural to you as getting up in the morning!

Welcome to this wonderful site! Even if you did find us by accident, I think you will find that we are not only a site filled with loads of quality information, but also one with people who sincerely care and are here for one another.
I see you are very newly diagnosed and can only imagine how overwhelmed you must be. As a type 1 myself for nearly 45 years, I'm impressed that you are managing with oral meds, diet and exercise and wish the absolute best. If you have any questions or if there is anything i can help you with, don't hesitate to contact me!
