Roadblock

Posted on January 16, 2008 at 6:51pm 4 Comments

I saw my family dr. last Wednesday for a very painful knee. He has recently become a sort of 5 minute dr. So he diagnosed a sprain, tossed me a handful of Celebrex samples and started to get up to leave. I quickly asked for a physical therapy prescription in case I did not improve.

he quickly wrote one and refused to give me anything for pain, saying "The Celebrex will take care of that." It didn't, so I called the office the next day to request pain medication, which I got. After 5…

NO NO Abilify

Posted on December 27, 2007 at 7:56pm 0 Comments

After I stopped taking Seroquel and started on Abilify I had 2 panic attacks; one on Christmas and one the next day. So that was it for all the trouble I went to with the insurance company. I went back on Seroquel and finally got a good night's sleep, and I haven't had any more panic attacks. My blood sugar was uneffected by the Abilify despite the patient info, and I still don't think Seroquel increases appetite. It's still a strange journey!

Abilify

Posted on December 22, 2007 at 7:56pm 0 Comments

2 weeks ago I saw my dr and asked if any of my meds didn't work well with my new diabetes diagnosis. He said I should switch from Seroquel to Abilify because Seroquel increases appetite. I had never really noticed that effect, but what the heck. It took 2 weeks of back and forth with the insurance company to ok the Abilify. My dr had told me to quit Seroquel for 2 days before starting . So I didn't read the patient info until yesterday. And I discovered that Abilify can have the side effect of… Continue

My depressed self says just stay in bed. My diabetic self says sign up at the Y for a personal trainer. I will never do it alone, even tho it won't be cheap. But it's about my health and quality of life. I never shop; where do you find shorts in Dec? I don't own any Because I HATE them! Another delaying tactic to avoid the pain.

Hi Jan,
Life with diabetes is not easy for you, I see. I wish you to find more hope and more positive emotions in spring! It is possible for you too, not only for some people in the world.
