The biggest thing that helped me was a tip from Animas. I assume you are using the Inset sets that they send with the Animas pump? If so this tip will help. When I would put a new set in I would grab the outside of the plastic inserter and pull it up and off right away. Animas said to hold the inserter next to the skin after you insert and push the middle part firmly to your body before trying to pull the inserter off. This helps the sticker adhesive part stick better. Then pull the inserter off. Another valuable tip, do the site changes earlier in the day in case there is an issue. If you do it before bed and something goes wrong, you won't know till the middle of the night or first thing in the morning when sugars are sky high. I always change mine about an hour before dinner since I will have at least 5 hours before I go to bed.

What you are feeling is normal. I almost gave up on the pump at least 10 times the first week! If you are having trouble remembering the steps, write down a little cheat sheet to look at while you are doing it. This helped me alot! This will all become second nature soon, I promise :)

I'm on the Ping too so let me know if you have any questions. My biggest suggestion is to not freak out about all the things you don't know about the pump. I know I got frustrated and I wish I had this site then! You will get the hang of it, that is the whole point of the saline trial. If you feel you need more time before you have her go live with insulin, ask the docs to let you do another saline test for a few days.
