My New Year, 2015

Hello everyone, Happy New Year! Yes, I know I am late. I haven't been on for a while and am hoping to become more of a regular. My goal this year is to get back on track and become a better diabetic?I have a few issues? questions?First being, diabetes burnout. I am definately there. Don't want to eat because food is the enemy. Don't want to test because I'm afraid of what the meter is going to tell me. When my numbers are bad I always blame myself. I am still healing from a site that went bad…See More

Testing guidelines...

Am I the only one concerned with the current testing "guidelines"? This is what I'm being told. Those on diabetes medication get one test strip per day some are only given one per week. Those taking insulin should test 3x per day. Yet, when you read booklets and are being "coached" by your diabetes nurse or educator and even the commercials, they are all saying to test often. I am a type 1 on insulin for 17 years and now on the pump. I was told to test before and after meals. That's 6. Then…See More

My New Year, 2015

Hello everyone,

Happy New Year! Yes, I know I am late. I haven't been on for a while and am hoping to become more of a regular.

My goal this year is to get back on track and become a better diabetic?

I have a few issues? questions?

downloading pump info

Posted on March 17, 2014 at 1:56am 2 Comments

can't get my meter or pump to download info onto my computer. Just noticed it's not compatible with windows 8. But I could swear I've gotten it to download before. To be honest, I've only had success downloading twice even with my older computer which I know was compatible. Anyone else having problems with this? Any advice? I'm horrible at writing down my numbers and being able to make sense of my notes when it's time for a doctor visit. I'm so frustrated.

Surgery...

Posted on March 2, 2010 at 1:41am 0 Comments

Ok, so tomorrow I'm having the Essure procedure done.

Normally it's an office procedure, but my docs office doesn't have the facilities to do that just yet.

So... I'm going into the hopsital to have it done and will be asleep.

They know I'm a pumper and all, but I'm nervous.

Anyone on the pump and have surgery?

Thanks.

Also, I'm quite depressed about the American Diabetes Association and Medicare (who's guidelines my insurance has decided to…

hi jewels, don't compare yourself to others. I struggle with my d every day. last night I went to bed with a bg of 230-something. I had a small scoop of lowfat cottage cheese for breakfast and now I'm 145.

glad you are back. The fairgrounds are just down the street from my house, so I volunteer every day. There are so many areas you can enter the competition in handwork, food, art. what hobbies do you have?

Thanks for the response on lows. You are the first person I've seen who mentions a white blind spot. I've been having that but I have not yet associated it with lows. Since you mentioned it I will watch and see if that is when I get it. I feel the lows but now it seems I don't feel them nearly as soon or nearly as much as I used to. I think it's the tighter control also. Plus, with the pump I've lost 20 lbs and finally figured out I had to change some major settings. I had moved I:C and Basal but now that my ISF has been changed I'm seeing a better balance. Thanks.

Yep I know exactly what you mean!!! I took Type 1 way back in the early 70's and up til I found this site I felt like I was doing it all wrong and felt like an outcast but here we all have one common gole in mine and we really aren't that judgemental about how you go about doing it. Manny (our beloved founder) had a GREAT idea when he came up with this idea! I rwally hope you like it here and I know you will love the ppl here. Atleast I do!!!!!!!!
