Thanks for the reply, jla. Yes, I'm on Medicare, and not on the Omnipod, although the Pod or the promised Solo equivalent look very attractive apart from cost and reliability questions. Tried Dexcom, the initial version, some years ago but was discouraged by unpredictable and frequent failures; gather it's much better now. And, just to make clear, I too have never found close control to be anything like easy!

Hi jla -
Having myself had T1D for almost 52 years, I'm always looking out for other long-termers, and just happened across your post about the Omnipod. I'm a bit older, tight control because of neuropathy from late diagnosis (A1c typically 5.3%), physically active, although I find maintaining good bgs during sustained exercise to be complicated. Would you be interested in sharing techniques? Maybe you know other long-term T1Ds?

I don't believe you can change your Medicare plane now....I had no idea I would be covered..I have paid out of pocket for over 2+ years....I still cannot believe it!!

I too, am on Medicare. I have a BC/BS Medicare advantage plan. On it since Jan 1. I now get my pods with NO COPAY from Edgepark. (So Far). Condidered a DME. If you know how a Medicare Advantage plan works...I have no deductable, covers EVERYTHING medical. I do have copays. This is the first time since being on medicare that my pods are covered. With all said and done...I didn't pay as much for my pods as you are paying in medical coverage.
