Finesse Insulin Patch Pen

Posted on October 5, 2010 at 11:17am 4 Comments

Hi
Has anyone seen or used this? It like a cross between a pump and a pen. My 12 year saw this and said this is what she would like. She is not into pumps , and is off put by the Insulin pens. This looks like a good thing. Its very small stays on for 3 days , is not electrical, and can be used to bolus for meals with Novolog or humalog. You squeeze 2 buttons on the side to dispense a bolus of Insulin. I cant find out if its available yet and how much.

OH No!! I can see how that would happen. Yes, you can see the + and - on it as you dial it! we have just been lowering the dose using the exact dose since she is only on .1u of basal, our only choices are .05 or .1!! She did three hard hours of choreography today with that and started at 109 and ended at 119. AMAZING!!

I am SO glad to hear that! Today is Kennedy's first day of choreography with the pod. She's a competitive dancer and pretty routinely does 5 hour stints of class, technique, today is choreography with a guest choreographer, so we are hopeful she can get through it without a major mishap! We bolused for breakfast 1.2 units, then started a temp basal of .05 down from .1 for the duration. I told her just go for it! She's got the pod on her belly with some purple coban wrap, which is sufficiently cool appearing for her! I wish your daughter the best, Kennedy would love to catch up with her sometime.
looking forward to learning with you and troubleshooting! ( Did I read you are a nurse? I am a pediatrician! www.personalmedicine.com www.personalmedicineofkentucky.com and most recently blogging at www.healthergy.net
Best,
Natalie
