Hi, my daughter Amelia would like to introduce herself to you. She is 8 and has been living with diabetes for 4 years. Amelia: do you like the pump instead of shots? What grade are you in?

Hi! Absolutely I recommend getting a pump for your daughter! We were initially a little apprehensive because Hattie was only 2 when she got it, but it's SO much better than the shots. It really gives you a lot more flexibility and it does give us tighter control over her blood sugar. I can leave her with my mom or an informed neighbor. We can also give her little doses of insulin throughout dinner instead of waiting until she's done. The biggest thing is, her preschool nurse can handle everything for us, so I can drop her off at school like other moms and not come back until school is over! Sometimes she even eats lunch there! I HIGHLY recommend it! Good luck!
