Leaving Medtronic

Hi All,I've been pumping for 11 years and other than a two-year stint with Deltec, I've had a Minimed pump for most of that time. I'm done. For a variety of reasons. SO, I'm trying to decide between Animas and Omnipod for my next pump. I'm also switching to the Dexcom for CGMS. Anybody out there have an opinion on what they like better? I mostly am interested in who you think is going to get to an integrated system faster and in Omnipod's new lower-profile version. Tube or no tube is not an…See More

I would be more then happy to help. I am a diabetes reasearch nurse at the Health Science Center but our patients are type 2 unfortunately. I would be more then happy to help. Even though I have been doing this for a long time its hard to think of yourself as the patient. I learn more and more about diabetes from other diabetics then most text books. Some of the advise I have read I know is wrong but some is not. I live in the North center side of town a couple miles east Of I-10 off Wurzbach. What doctor do you see for your diabetes care? I can ask my CDE for a list or provide her with the info and ask her to mail a flier for us. If the JDF is willing to help they have a mailing list of type 1 diabetics. I know from talking to some of the doctors there is a lot of type 1's who could really use a support group. Let me know what I can do to help.

Hi A. Kelsey, I would think it would be great to get a group of adults who have diabetes in the San Antonio area. I know about the JDF and I was a guest speaker a few years back but they were about 95% children. We are the group that has little in the way of support. (type 1 adults) I see in your profile you are going on Methotrexate. I was on a biological medication simular to that one because they thought I had Chrones disease. It did not help me but later I found out I did not have Chrones so it wouldn't help. I have heard good things about it and arthritis though. If I remember it did not affect my blood sugar though. Steroids were another story. I hope it works for you.

Thanks. I only started CGM so hadn't joined that group yet but I did get the help (and mainly reassurance) that I needed. It is the MM CGM on the Veo system. I just got and sensor error message too so am hoping that doesn't cause any other problems! Only 45 mins till calibration and then I am having some carbs - had a lettuce, cheese, ham wrap and some nuts plus a cuppa tea in the meantime :)
