Originally from California (Sun Valley & Paso Robles) .... Now a transplanted Georgia Peach! I'm a wife of one, mother of three, Step Mom of one, and Mother In Law of two. ;0)

Gestational Diabetes: Sept. 1986 - Feb 1987.
Type 2 Diabetes: "officially" Aug 2005 ... most probably since 2002 (maybe even before then?) Treated with oral meds from Aug 2005 to Feb 2007 (and of course diet and exercise [as much as I can do, which, unfortunately, isn't much] ). As of Feb 12, 2007 I am being treated with Insulin [Novolog N & Novolog R] and Metformin.

Diabetes runs like wild fire on my Dad's side of the family. My Dad, at least 3 of his 4 sisters, my younger sister, at least one of my cousin’s and one of her son’s as well, my grandmother (dad’s mother), my great grandmother (grandmother’s mother), as well as quite a few more distantly related relatives(second cousins, great aunts, great uncles, etc), all with the same family ties. T1's and T2's both! Recently my Mom was dx'd T2 as well. As far as anyone knows, she's the first in her family to have Diabetes. Diabetes is just a "family affair" with us! LOL

I’ve always known, since having Gestational Diabetes, that I would eventually have Diabetes! When dx'd I already knew I'd "made the leap" a couple/few years previous, just hadn't been to the doc about it. I didn't know then, what I know now about complications and such. I am VERY lucky!!!

So it wasn't a shock at all to me when they came in and told me, just a confirmation of what I already knew. ;0) And ..... life goes on.

Still Sick ...

Yep, I'm still sick. Nothing new about that though. With having Valley Fever, that's the norm ... a long recovery time! Add in the Diabetes, and well, you've got a recipe for an extra LONG recovery time!

So, I'm still coughing, still a bit congested, still a bit weak, added a sore throat to the mix, for the last couple weeks, and then a few days ago I got laryingitis too! What fun!!! NOT! *sigh* Though, I think hubby likes that last part! LOL My voice had slowly faded since Christmas day, then… Continue

Yukkies ....

Well, it's been some time since I've posted anything on here. So I guess I'll update on what's been going on with me lately.

I have been quite sick the past couple weeks. I've had a bout with pneumonia. It probably started a few weeks ago. Hubby had double pneumonia. I started out with some coughing and a little bit of congestion. Nothing too bad. Nothing I hadn't dealt with numerous times in the past, on my own.

Then on Sunday, Nov. 16 is when it got worse. I had woken up in the middle of the… Continue

I'm back & Endo visit today.

I'm back from my trip to the Gulf Coast. It was beautiful down there. I did get some nice pics of sunrises, sunsets and the waves and stuff. If anyone is interested, they can be seen here: http://flickr.com/photos/ladytaz .

Endo Visit Today ....

I love my doc, he cracks me up ... he says, well Melissa, you hit a new low today!!! Usually that is a bad thing, but in this case, it's a GOOD thing!! Your A1c dropped by 1% down to

I've been taking it easy the past ... however long I've been sick now (feels like a lifetime). Yesteday, I was out and about, runnin around for like 5 hours! I ARE SICK! :(

People, I'm pretty sure I've died and gone to hell! If what my hubby has gone thru with this sinus, chest congestion, body achey, fevery, coughy, sore throat, feels like my head is gonna explode crap, is any indication, it's only gonna get worse over the next few days. *pouts*

At least my BG's don't go sky high when I get sick! Instead, I have to watch for lows! Actually, I don't know what's worse?

Now, please excuse me while I find me some sand, so I can dig a hole, and bury my

Ah, that explains why I hadn't seen you around. I'm glad you're doing better now. I've never been in hospital for pneumonia - one of the joys of D I will still encounter, no doubt.

I'm doing well. I have a new endo, and am really happy. He told me to eat normally and just take more insulin, so I've been eating chocolate muffins! Tomorrow I will be better though. :D

Morning Melissa,

We're actually working on that right now. A couple of new lines will be added in the coming months and we've graciously taken many suggestions from our customers wanting to keep their insulin with them and keep it cool. So yeah we're working on it* :) Thanks for the wonderful suggestion.

Hope you have a Fabulous Weekend*
