The waiting... is the hardest part

Saw the endo yesterday. We all agreed that a pump is the best solution for me and suprisingly we also all agreed on which pump to get. So I have contacted the nice people at Animas about getting an animas ping! ( I personally feel that ping should always follow up with an exclamation mark)

But now I have to wait for the animas people to put together my file, send it to my insurance company, have my insurance company review it, etc before they decide to either approve me or not.

I hate waiting,… Continue

First high A1C result ever... guess the honeymoon is ending.

Hey Guys-

I've been on here for about a year and it has helped me so much. I've discovered my diabetes (the autoimmune variety) in a non-traditional way, and as a result got to watch the progress slowly for the past 3 years of my endless honeymoon. In the past year, I have started taking short acting (Novolog) as well as the lantus to control my blood sugars and I can honestly say that my needs for novolog have gone up dramatically in the past few months (needs= tripled, but still relatively sm… Continue

My pump is blue. You're right tho' - that most people think it's a pager. We were on a cruise last year - and our waiter when he had brought our food - and was pulling my pump off my waist band got all ready to poise ... for a picture! LOL He thought it was a camera. I told him what it was - and he was from the Phillipines - and his Mum is a diabetic on insulin - when he got back home - he said he was going to look into getting a pump for her - as he saw how "healthy" I was - but I did tell him it's not just the pump that makes me healthy - but also because I knew how to use it to its' full advantage. What medical field are you entering into? I now wish I had gone into research if I'd had the money/patience to go further in my education - sigh - next life perhaps?

Hi Lane! I was reading your site, how is it going? I am a newer LADA waiting for my insulin to run out. I was A1c 5.9 then I went Bernstein and exercise fanatic and was sure I'd have a 4.6 A1c but it came back 6.1. I was shocked and now I just have to swallow that I am on the path of no insulin eventually. So I am looking for insight on what to possibly expect. I haven't been put on meds yet.
