Strong strong agreement in the idea of getting a second opinion. You need a very skilled retinal speciakist who has the experience and quilifications to at a minimum, follow your care to ensure that you retain as much of your remaining vision as p...

I am a T1. I was 12 years old when I started with the usual thirst, weight loss and continual urination. My mom thought I was trying to loose weight, then she saw the other signs. My father was a diabetic so she saw the signs. My dad's family is full of diabetics. I have so many cousins, aunts and uncles that are T1, that our local hospital did a study on us through Lab work. After 30plus years, I have begun the complication road-- Neuropathy, Retinopathy to name a few. My blood vessels in my eyes are very bad, they say I can't have any more laser, I only have 10% blood supply to my eyes. I need help to gain tighter control to prolong my problems. I have a beautiful teenage daughter and a wonderful husband of 19 years. I want to be around a while!!!

sensors

UGHHH, I just called minimed to re-order the sensors for the cgm, they said they would take about 14 days. I only have 1 sensor left, I had no idea it would take so long.
On a good note though... My insurance coverage just changed at work and they now cover diabetic supplies at 100% and preventative medications have a zero copay. That will save me a bundle!!

cgm and kidney test

Well, I still have the cgm on. It has been over 1 week and doing good.. The tape came loose last week and the sensor came out, so I had to reinsert it.
I went to have labs done and a 24hour kidney test, all are in the normal range!!! Yeah!!!!

CGM 2nd try

Well, I am giving the cgm a 2nd try this week. I love it when the numbers are close in range with the pump. I like it at work, I know when I need to leave my work area to treat my sugar.. I hate it in the middle of the night when it says my sugar is low or high and I check and it is in the normal range. Little things to work out. I also have trouble finding an area not close to the pump site or the last pump site.
Oh and I get Weak Signal error when the pump is only 8-12 inches from the sensor!

Good Morning Linda,

How goes it - they did second round of laser 585 hits on Friday - two more to go over the next couple of months - letting the body absorb all the blood of the ruptures . Glad you added Jessica to your friends she is in need of email hugs from time to time. They tell me the other eye is likely to go some time soon hopefully not both eyes at same time. The intial prognosis on the laser work has been good. Lucky result so far. Enough aout me how are you doing?

Thanks for writing to me, no I didn't have my eye checked! It had some pain and a bump below my eyebrow, which lasts for like a day or two and went away. But now some times it feel itchy! I believe may be it is dry!!
May be I need to see my eyes doctor? I did see him last April though!

Thanks again for the input and the caring, have a nice one

Linda,

Its one of my issues they don't tell me much - taking another 600 hits on this Friday spent the last 5 days clearing up the blood from last Thursday. Long term however that is defined probably not good. My Dad passed away as a T1 at the age of 74 last year legally blind for 12 years so I have seen seen the progression first hand. That being said medical science has come along way since he was first diagnosed. If I can keep one eye long term I can live with that - I did it for the last week and that's doable.Haven't thought much beyond that though. I will tell you his though I am really appreciate my sight right now like I never did before - so much I took for granted. Hang in there and keep me posted. Mike

Linda.,

I saw your story on the diabetics with eye problems - I've been a diabetic for 36 years and I been really working on my A1c's, but 2 weeks ago while on a camping trip I woke up blind in my left eye. I had laser suergery on Thursday and going back for more this week. They tell me my right eye will probably go next. They tell me its the natural progression of the disease - parrdon my expression but horse shit!! Still working through this chain of events. So I guess I know how you are feeling. Mike

Hi Linda,

Thanks, I'm fine, but I am reminded of something from "Alice in Wonderland" about growing old not being for sissies.

Hope you and yours are well.

Hi Linda, I'm new to this whole life changing experience but really am enjoying talking to other people with similar ups and downs. I'm glad to hear you are on he right rack and the CMG is helping you. I am considering another child and my endo is suggesting I get one to make sure my levels remain stable. I look forward to hearing more about your experience with it.
