About nine weeks ago I had an operation. I could not believe the outpouring of support that I received from everyone here. I am still overwhelmed by the kindness. I was only in the hospital for five days, and that seemed like forever. I could not…Continue

Hello Ellen. How are things? Things are quiet here after all that sawing and pounding BUT I love the results. It makes all the rooms look briughter and bigger. I love them. Even in the closet. I amm still picking up green fur balls. Russ went to massage and pt. The massage not hands on heating pads. He liked the pt. They want him to go 2 times a week. About an hour ago he said he was crippled so who knows. I was doing laundry ay 7AM. TOPS agenda ready. We have 2 contests going. One I think will be hard as they have to lose every week until August. Not me KOPS cannot lose too much or we lose status. Poor Cat wants home. I guess she has to stay there. BG 106. I feel good. Hope you are too....do not overdo. A big HUG. Reed

I have had problems with Metformin causing me digestive problems. I stopped taking it and it has improved. If my numbers go up I will ask for Lantus to level me out. I make enough insulin to cover my meals though. Thank you for the kind words. I am glad you are back in full swing again.

Hi Lots. When I wake up high, my entire day is shot, even after I come back to a good range. The older I get, the longer these effects seem to have on me - feeling hungover the entire day.
No sign of Mari. It doesn't sound good, particularly since I guess they found her dog wandering around. I sure hope someone didn't force her into her car, etc. In situations like this, one's imagination tends to run wild. She is supposed to give a presentation in Michigan this weekend, and if she doesn't show up then it will be an indication that something's gone bad, really bad.
Today I am going downtown because every Th they have a big farmer's market on the main drag. The creeping thyme in my fairy garden is not doing well and I need to look for some other herb to replace it.
The sun is even out.
Have a good day.

Hi Lots. Hope you are doing well. I didn't see you at the diabetes group on Wednesday. You really missed your chance, my friend Cherry taught us to Hula. Well, just a few steps. That is probably the only time I'll ever Hula, but I had fun.

Hello Lots. Pooped. Packing moving furniture getting the dust from under the bed. Tom and Russ really worked. I did what I could with a walker. Tom took 4 days off from work. He is strong. I think I might have told youwhen Russ and I are gone we have left Tom the house with the contents. He loves our antiques so now we do not have to worry where things end up. PRAISE GOD there is nothing on the side of Russ's nose. What a reliev. I am feeling better than I deserve. My legs pretty good. I gained a pound at TOPS...I needed to. Just getting ready fopr floors I know what you are going through setting up a house. TAke it slow and easy. Hopefully, I will be back Saturday. HUGS,Reed

The only people I know who have been successful in keeping orchids blooming are those who give them a ton of orchid food.

Generally the weather is warm here, so yeah, it can feel like being on vacation. Sadly, we don't actually go to the beach all that much. Just not our think, I guess.

Thanks for the good wishes for the week. I hope your week is going well too.

hi Ellen, I've been thinking about you, and hoping you're going to be able to go to Brian's group tomorrow, even just for a bit. He's someone I'd really like to meet. He's really doing an amazing job as an admin too, I have never met someone with as much knowledge about diabetes as him. He works very near where my mother lives, in Falls Church. Your new place is bigger, ooo, nice to have room to spread out a bit. you don't want to go so big you can't take care of it though. we had a place like that in Oklahoma. It took all night to water the grass, 12 stations, thank God we had a good well. it was crazy having that big house. now we have our little lake house, and it's just right for us. I want you to be ALL WELL, dear friend!

Hello Lots. I am not worth a dime today. My knees and legs so bad I can hardly walk. I hope it is a one day thing. We both were up early as we had to fast and give blood. We thought no one would be there WRONG. I was #30 Russ was #31. I gave blood for three doctors. Looking around the floor installers have some heavy pieces to move. You were feeling down. Are you better today? It takes a long time to pounce back from things. Russ has smething on the other side ofhis nose..can it be cancer? He says he cannot go though nose reconstruction again. Take good care Ellen Enjoy your new house. HUGS,Reed

I am trying to come up with benefits to having diabetes, so that when things get tough, I can think of them and they can give me strength.

One benefit that I have come up with is that I have developed a sense of compassion.

I had an eye-opening experience the other day listening to someone make light of a person that had a mental disorder. They were using them as the butt of a joke. Having a mental disorder myself, unknown to them, I did not think the comments…

As some of you know I have bipolar disorder. Sometimes I swing into depression. In spite of the awesome autumn weather and the realization that there is absolutely nothing to be upset about, things are not right with me at present.

I am already on a bunch of medications to control my moods, most of them are really toxic, Abilify, Depakote for mood stabilization, Cymbalta and Klonopin for anxiety and depression and Modafinil to keep me awake because the other ones cause a slow…
