Hey sister. Today at the grocery store if you got a flu shot you got a piece of dry old cake. I gave mine to a little kid who seemed to enjoy it.
Today I'm making vegetarian chili with tomatoes, zucchini, onion, garlic tofu, beans, a half used jar of spaghetti sauce and some liquid smoke.
Will freeze it in individual portions.

Hi Ellen-I haven't been on my computer much this week b/c it hasn't been acting well. Since we have moved in the wireless network we are on is giving us trouble. It is soooo slow and locks us out sometimes. I have trouble reading on your new purple page. The ink blends in w/the page. How have you been feeling ? I had a couple of really good days this week. I only wish they were everyday. My holiday was the past 2 days and I went to the synagogue. I have another holiday next Sat. It is a fast day, but I don't fast. Jim and I got our Flu shots on Wed. We are both fine from them. I hope you are enjoying this beautiful weather. It appears the warm temps will disappear after this weekend. Have a great weekend. Take care. Susan

Ellen, how are you? thanks for replying. I can't see the comments on you r page as the colors of the background and type are so similar. I'm sure you'll soon be putting up some fall decor. the trees are starting to change here, and the hummingbirds have bugged out early. we have a lot of what they call "agro-tourism" here, orchards and corn mazes and sunflower mazes, hayrides and pumpkin patches. saw a lot today driving up to warwick NY for the guild, which was merry and raucous with an exciting program on scrap quilts. we've got a very friendly group there. I also sold $54 in bread. hope you're hanging in there, hugs, think of you often my friend.

The Sermon

Posted on July 22, 2014 at 1:28pm 3 Comments

Once a Zen master just set down to pronounce a sermon, when outside a bird started to sing. The master did not say a word and everybody listened to it.
When the bird stopped singing the master simply announced that the sermon was over, and he moved away.

True creativity and alertness only arise when emptiness has seized the mind.
I am halfway there.
My mind is empty.

Invincible

Posted on July 22, 2014 at 1:17pm 4 Comments

I remember back when I thought I was invincible.

I was one of the people with diabetes that never would get sick. I was not going to let that happen. I ate right, ran a lot, took my BG levels all the time, and saw the doctor. What happened was that I was not one of the lucky ones. I got all the complications and then some other things too. Am I the same person that I was before, still a person, still…

I Keep Going

Posted on July 14, 2014 at 3:32pm 7 Comments

All this summer has been full of pain. I try to do my best to keep up with everything, but it is hard when I am always hurting. I have so many chronic illnesses that I hesitate to even make a list of them because it might scare me! I spend a lot of time in the hospital, in the ER and at the doctors but nothing seems to help.

I do try as hard as I can to keep moving. I have a garden, pets and I go swimming every day. It seems like the heat never lets up, so it is nice to feel the cool…
