I went to the doctor today and after a two hour appointment I was told that I was not going to be given a prescription for Insulin. Yikes. It was because I was Type 1. "We don't treat that. You need…Continue

Ellen-I was so happy to hear from you. I hope you are feeling a little better. I have been saying special prayers for you. We do like it here. The boxes are all gone and the only thing left to be done is hang the pictures. Maintenance will be coming this week to do that. It is nice to just call " if we want anything hung or fixed. All of the pieces of furniture that we brought fit in perfectly in the rooms.
We don't eat here too much. We chose not to have a meal plan. We like to eat at different places in the area. It is the same town that our house is in and we have our favorite places to eat dinner. Besides, the dining room here has a dress code and Jim doesn't like to get dressed up for dinner, he prefers to just wear shorts. Maybe when the weather gets colder we will get a 20 day meal plan. Zorro is adjusting to living here. He has several places to sit and look outside. Jim put up several bird feeders to attract birds that he can watch.
Are you getting any treatment for your problems ? What do the docs say they can do for you ? I certainly hope something will work.
Take care of yourself. Susan

Hi Ellen Thanks for the gorgeous Laurel Burch Cats... I love them! I have always loved her cats and started doing my own cat paintings a while back too :-) How are you doing?

Lots,

I hope things have gotten better for you. I just read through your last email again. It's no fun being in the Hospital. Keep the faith Ellen. There are allot of people out here pulling for you. I was beside myself before I heard from you. Just think you could loose your legs or arms. This must be better than that.

The Sermon

Posted on July 22, 2014 at 1:28pm 3 Comments

Once a Zen master just set down to pronounce a sermon, when outside a bird started to sing. The master did not say a word and everybody listened to it.
When the bird stopped singing the master simply announced that the sermon was over, and he moved away.

Invincible

I remember back when I thought I was invincible.

I was one of the people with diabetes that never would get sick. I was not going to let that happen. I ate right, ran a lot, took my BG levels all the time, and saw the doctor. What happened was that I was not one of the lucky ones. I got all the complications and then some other things too. Am I the same person that I was before, still a person, still…

I Keep Going

All this summer has been full of pain. I try to do my best to keep up with everything, but it is hard when I am always hurting. I have so many chronic illnesses that I hesitate to even make a list of them because it might scare me! I spend a lot of time in the hospital, in the ER and at the doctors but nothing seems to help.

I do try as hard as I can to keep moving. I have a garden, pets and I go swimming every day. It seems like the heat never lets up, so it is nice to feel the cool…
