As a caregiver, here is some advice from a 91 year, young, geezer, insulin-dependent since 1977. I live in TORONTO, where INSULIN was discovered by DRS.BANTING & BEST, July 30 1921. There is a large Phillipine population here and a Phillipine diabetes support group. Check out www.diabetes.ca and they will give the addrress. Start a small group in your area. 1 have a good diabetic specialist, 2.wear a MEDIC-ALERT bracelet, it can SPEAK for you in emergencies, 3, have a DIABETIC BUDDY, someone you are in contact DAILY, they can SAVE your life, 4 listen to your body, it tells you when to sleep, eat, rest and exercise. It works because this what I tell over 40.000 diabetics, as a ROLE MODEL who walk the walk and talk the talk. These guidelines will lead to a healthy lifestyle and make you a ROLE MODEL.
