Brava Brava! Your activism earns you your very own Warrior Marks. I was probably just about your age when my activism became tightly melded with my work as an artist. Now it is evolving into grocery store line activism for which I have slowly figured out techniques that actually do a little nudging of hearts and minds in more positively engaged directions. But you've got to be a harmless looking middle-aged woman for them to work---it's my disguise----sort of stealth activism---grab 'em where they least expect it!.....I think we are both needed in this messed up old beloved world, don't you?!.....It's a thrill to hear your stories, my dear. I will keep checking and you keep posting!.....

homophobia & ableism--support me!

so, im getting kinda nervous because I am supposed to be facilitating a workshop tomorrow about the intersections of homophobia & ableism. I am really excited to have the opportunity to speak specifically about the connections (and to extend it to dealing with chronic illness), but im worried that 1) folks arent going to get it 2) its going to be boring and 3) no one is going to come.

since you all are such *experts* in dealing with these connections, i'd love

has anyone here ever heard of Burning Man? That’s where Vanessa & I are headed this week—an all out hippie artist fest in the middle of nowhere. check it out here: www.burningman.com

are there any 'burners' in the group? if so, do you have any advice for surviving a week in the sweltering desert with diabetes and without access to anything that you didnt bring on your back? just checking.

i just moved to brooklyn from north carolina about 9 months ago and i feel like im still making the transition sometimes. i really like to move around, but definitely one… Continue
