The OmniPod controller is less expensive than the pump/controller of tubed pumps, however, I believe the Pods are much more expensive than the infusion sets of traditional pumps, so over the course of say four years of use, it could work out to be...

Did you tried contacting Medtronic USA and asking them about how much it cost to have it?
Since I believe $7000 is above the average price, may be not! Am not sure exactly! I bought my pump in 2006 for like $5000 (Insurance paid, Thx god). But it is just a pump without any wireless or Continuous Glucose Monitor! Am not sure if they are selling the newest type of the Medtronic? Also I wonder if they could offer it cheaper!! Like the insulin, here in the US the vial is like $75 or so, while in Jordan I believe it is less than 20JD! Right

of course.. eating organic won't prevent lows. to prevent lows you need to take less medication and eat less carbs. less spikes, less crashes.

The PUMP (Emily), is the best thing that I ever had in my 26 years of having diabetes. Standing on my previous experience (like 5 to 7 years ago) Jordan didn't have any pumps, since it is really expensive for the patients to use! Hope it is not like that any more! Do you know if there is any pumps in Jordan?
I don't know that Dr I only know Al-zaheri. Thx for the add and please don't hesitate in contacting me, I LOVE TO HELP

Hey luda, glad you left me a comment. An a1c in the 5's, it wasn't easy, but it was simple. Step one: completely stop eating processed carbs (grains and sugar). Step two: eat only whole foods - more vegetables (organic when possible) and enough meat and fat to make me feel full (high quality fat and protein are great for your controlling your blood sugar. Because of the way I eat, I only take a small amount of insulin - 3 units of lantus, 5 max of apidra.

At the same time, I was very fastidious about testing my blood sugar. You have to test if your basal is correct. You have to know your carb ratio and test it once in a while. I didn't settle for 160 post meals, or 140 even. My goal is 120 or less for my peak. I usually test one hour after meals, not two (unless the meal is very heavy - then maybe 1.5 hours).

Take care.

Hello there, I add my voice to Sohairs and Welcome to this really great place. I wonder who is your doctor? Do you go to Al-Ourdon Hospital? Dr. M. Al-zaheri was the one who discovered diabetes in me in the 80s. He is really a nice doctor and have lots of experience in the field. Oh sorry, I should said this at the beginning am a Jordanian as well, lived there for like 6 years though!
