"Marty, If the limit is going to be $2500, but your expenses are $3000, then all you do is pay $500 after taxes, instead of pre-tax. The difference between pre-tax and post-tax for the $500 is only going to be about $100. So, $100 over a year means…"

"Doesn't that $2000 or $2600 or $5000 in your FSA come from you? You have the money in an FSA because you've deposited it into this savings account. The benefit of an FSA is that it is taken out of your paycheck pre-tax. If you're only…"

FSA Spending Limit Starting in 2013

it's my understanding that because of Obamcare that FSA max will be $2,500 starting in 2013. While writing this law it was determined that FSA is considerd a wealthy person deduction and an advantage not available to everyone. Hence, the cap change from 5,000 to 2,500 I guess to level the 'playing field'.If true, I totally depise this change. My pods cost me $250 every 3 months. So that is $1,000 out of my pocket without all my other medical costs for Humalog, Symlin and my various other meds…See More

Sumlin Experience

Posted on January 19, 2010 at 2:46am 2 Comments

Glad I can give you my experience using Symlin. I started on it in early October 2009 and I take 3 shots a day before each meal. I can say it has really helped me get control of my diabetes. It just one of the components that has helped me go from a 12.4 to 6.7 in about 15 month.s

In particular, Symlin has greatly reduced the amount of food I intake on a daily basis. What I found is that my food cravings between meals has been basically eliminated. I normally eat three (3) meals a… Continue

Hi Marty,

I saw your post about the trouble with AA. I did a quick search, and I found a discussion on Juvenation in which someone commented saying they are a flight attendant and wear an Omnipod. If you aren't a member of that community, maybe you can join, and contact the person, username united90. here is a link to the thread:

Much luck getting this issue resolved!

Hi Marty -
Good luck today. Have you read Jason's tips on Symlin? http://tudiabetes.com/profile/oneless - scroll down to the bottom. There are 3 guides. I copied them in to Word and printed them out. Very helpful. The "literature" is less than helpful.

Thankfully, I have yet to experience any nausea, but then I tend to have a cast iron stomach.

To me, it's all about timing with Symlin. In the past week, since I've been on it, I've been most successful when I've waited about an hour to bolus - and then by half.
