"What a psychologically healthy attitude! I'm adopting it. What is crazy is that if every diabetic were put on a CGM, the overall cost of diabetics to the health insurance industry would likely go down -- a lot."

"YES type 1 diabetes and RA are often linked. Most autoimmune diseases are part of the spectrum. It pretty much all involves getting your auto immune system ramped up to the point where it attacks your own body."

Looking for anyone who has this combo? I was recently tested postive for RA but see the specialist in a few weeks to confirm disagnosis.I have re-occuring adhesive capsulitis which will not heal even after 2 surguries. It is frozen again and my orthropedic surgeon is recommending a 3rd capsule release but see the RA specialist first.Looking for anyone's feedback and comments.See More

Frozen Shoulder - Looking for Advice

Posted on June 3, 2012 at 3:32am 10 Comments

Initial diagnosis was 11/2010. I got a cortisone shot and took roughly 18 PT sessions. All got better by March 2011. May 2011 the pain returned and my ROM was decreasing rapdily again. I got another cortisone shot but no more PT per doctor. Early August 2010 no improvement what so ever so a 3rd cortisone shot. No good so I changed doctors for another opinion. I went on a NSAID for 6 weeks. Initially, the pain was greatly reduced by my ROM was still poor.

Mid-October 2011, I had…

Sumlin Experience

Posted on January 19, 2010 at 2:46am 2 Comments

Glad I can give you my experience using Symlin. I started on it in early October 2009 and I take 3 shots a day before each meal. I can say it has really helped me get control of my diabetes. It just one of the components that has helped me go from a 12.4 to 6.7 in about 15 month.s

In particular, Symlin has greatly reduced the amount of food I intake on a daily basis. What I found is that my food cravings between meals has been basically eliminated. I normally eat three (3) meals a… Continue

Hi Marty,

I saw your post about the trouble with AA. I did a quick search, and I found a discussion on Juvenation in which someone commented saying they are a flight attendant and wear an Omnipod. If you aren't a member of that community, maybe you can join, and contact the person, username united90. here is a link to the thread:

Much luck getting this issue resolved!

Hi Marty -
Good luck today. Have you read Jason's tips on Symlin? - scroll down to the bottom. There are 3 guides. I copied them in to Word and printed them out. Very helpful. The "literature" is less than helpful.

Thankfully, I have yet to experience any nausea, but then I tend to have a cast iron stomach.

To me, it's all about timing with Symlin. In the past week, since I've been on it, I've been most successful when I've waited about an hour to bolus - and then by half.
