My step-daughter has had a rough road with her diabetes. When she was 8 mo old she was originally diagnosed with epilepsy and given pills for it. At 2 with the seizures continuing, she was finally diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. When she was 4 my husband and her mom were divorced. She lived with her mother during the week and with my husband on the weekends. In 2011 we had noticed a very bad pattern with her blood sugar tests. We filed for custody and won. - I am a mother of 4 and step parent of 2. My husband and I were granted full custody of his 2 children in 2011, due to medical neglect to his daughter with her diabetes. Unfortunately, she was taught how to mistreat her diabetes (not enough insulin, too much, give self bruises for attention). Within 9 months of her moving in with us we thought we had her understanding her diabetes better and her BGL were well enough that she was recommened for a pump! YAY! A year later, she's still mistreating her diabetes and I'm on here hoping to get advice on how to deal with these actions.

The above are words that I use to welcome a good many folks to this site but I feel that I should say more. I have read thru your discussions and let me say that I feel that your doing an excellent job with your step-daughter. I hope you find the support you need. This is a great place to find help.
