musicman88 replied to Cocheze's discussion 'Has anybody put an infusion set in their thigh?' in the group Minimed Paradigm Insulin Pump Users
"OK, stupid questions perhaps, but here goes. If you use your thighs for your infusion site do you use your inner thighs or outer thighs? Do you have to shave the area first?"

musicman88 replied to Geoffrey Steinman's discussion 'Contour NEXT USB (Link Meter) pouch' in the group Minimed Paradigm Insulin Pump Users
"I've found that if you put the strip container in so that the cap is toward the inside of the pouch it works better. It also seems to get looser over time."

musicman88 replied to Amy's discussion 'CGM Insertion Site Issues'
"Wow. I've never had that particular problem, but if I did I would try calling MM to see if I needed a new inserter. I don't think the issue is your skin, I think it's the (lack of) speed of the needle travel. The other comments are…"

Stemwinder replied to musicman88's discussion 'Oramed sends request for phase two trial of oral insulin to FDA' in the group Minimed Paradigm Insulin Pump Users
"Sounds interesting, at an earlier stage would have tried it. But after I started MDI and then my pump I think I am past the point where it would help. Seems that this med could only work as basal insulin and I need bolus insulin too."

musicman88 replied to Jtausch's discussion 'infusion sets' in the group Minimed Paradigm Insulin Pump Users
"I called Medtronic and they sent me a couple mio sets (4) free. I tried them and went back to the quick-sets. I don't know why but the mio sets sent my blood sugar way up. I went back to the quick set and they immediately went back down."

musicman88 replied to Cindy's discussion 'Tubing- switch from Omnipod' in the group Minimed Paradigm Insulin Pump Users
"I find that the MM CGM is not terribly accurate the first day I wear the sensor. After it gets calibrated it is usually withing 5 - 10 points of my BG. Can't really say this has been a problem for me."

musicman88 replied to musicman88's discussion 'Insulin to carb ratio' in the group Minimed Paradigm Insulin Pump Users
"The answer I want is probably not the one that will fix the problem. I learned a long time ago that I have to deal with the issues though. The good news is that Thanksgiving came and went I did not have a high BG issue and I didn't stuff…"

Anne replied to musicman88's discussion 'Insulin to carb ratio' in the group Minimed Paradigm Insulin Pump Users
"In my experience how I react to carbs depends on if they are processed foods or high glycemic index foods. While medtronic wants us to treat all carbs the same, if I eat black beans 15 gms it is way different than 15 gm of whole wheat bread. Lots of…"

musicman88 replied to musicman88's discussion 'Insulin to carb ratio' in the group Minimed Paradigm Insulin Pump Users
"I usually bolus just before I eat. I will try bolusing 10 minutes prior and see what happens. I do tend to return to baseline eventually, but it seems to be taking longer and also requires a correction bolus (even when I know exactly how many carbs…"

Natalie ._c- replied to musicman88's discussion 'Insulin to carb ratio' in the group Minimed Paradigm Insulin Pump Users
"Yes, it seems like if you are shooting up after eating carbs, you need more insulin, not less. But another important question is, are you returning to baseline after 3 or 4 hours? If that's the case, then it's not more insulin you need,…"
