We also carried extra insulin (pens & vials) in the frio containers, and there was no problem with them. The only difficulty we have when traveling is finding gluten free food. :(

Hope you're enjoying the trip. I've always had good experiences with security and my pump. They know what it is and they don't force me to put it under the Xray....i have no idea if the xray is bad for the pump, but i don't want to take a risk. H...

5 days and counting...

In five days Daniel and I will head down to Children's Hospital for our basal/bolus class, and walk away with a prescription for the pen. Whee! At the grocery store yesterday I was counting the number of snacks I needed to buy until Thursday. Today at breakfast, I counted his carbs and found that he was coming up short of his 65-75 meal allotment, He's not a fan of having to shove more carbs in just to meet the requirements, especially when he is full! Hi Everyone!

A warm and wonderful hello to all. I joined tudiabetes because my son Daniel was dx'd on 5/8/07 with T1. He was dx'd in July with celiac as well. After crying for a few months, I found a world of wonderful, helpful people online at diabetes message boards, on blog sites, and here. So here I am. I usually post on my blog at http://mywildandpreciouslife.blogspot.com. Please visit. I look forward to meeting many of you soon.

Thank you so much for your advice. You have been very helpful. I will do some research this week end. I did find a website that list different restraunts that have GF menues. I will take some PB and bars with me for sure. My BG has been running low ---with the change I am not eating as much. Just trying to find what I CAN eat. I know it will get better with time and learning the ropes. Thanks again for your help.

My husband and I will be taking my daughter to college next week end. We will be away for a couple of days. Any tips on how to eat away from home. We will be eating on campus the first day and eating out the next. HELP!

Hi Penny!

The web is kind of like a house of mirrors, isn't it? I keep running into people in different rooms! :-)
