TrevorKJ said… Hi Nel,
The race day was great but I'm really happy that it's all over! :) I wanted to run with Team Diabetes but I wasn't sure I'd be able to raise the required funds.
Are you running in Amsterdam with the team? Is that a Team D travel event?

FatCatAnna said… Hi Nel - finally finding the time to check out the info you sent to me. Am involved in too many diabetic groups now that I help run - that no time to have "fun" anymore - to check out the place that originally helped me when I first started pumping - aka Tudiabetes. Glad you are still active here - maybe when I'm retired I'll have more time - if I have wifi on the ocean that is. Tho' not sure if being retired - I'll have more time to do stuff like this - my ILS say they are more busy siince they retired (it's been almost 20 years for them now - still in good health in their 70's!!!).

Nice to hear from you and yes I'm not too far from Hwy 97 on Kalamalka Lake. Of course I know the Shuswap and have some good friends in Sicamous. I'm spending more time online these days learning about the diabetic community out there. Way more fun and useful than what comes out of Interior Health. Unfortunately it's taking me away from enjoying fabulous weather and getting exercise. So before the weekend gets away from me I'm going out. Keep in touch, I'm brewing some diabetes ideas and would love to communicate with local folks.
Azurah said… Hi! I'm from Kahului on the island of Maui! It's much more laid back than Oahu. My boyfriend (also a T2 diabetic) is a runner and we were just in Waikiki last month for the half marathon. He has participated in the GAR in the past, but skipped it this year.
I checked the website for the truck, seems to be for some kind of supplement. Type 2 diabetes is very prevalent in Hawaii from what I hear, though.
I see you're from Canada. In July I visited my best friend in Calgary and got to go to the Stampede. It was a great trip and I hope to visit again soon.
