Training for my next 1/2 marathon as a walker and some running .

Support the renewal of Canada BC's Diabetes Strategy . The Canadian Diabetes Association asks every candidate in the May 12 , 2009 Provincial election for their support
Diabetes is serious .Every 20 minutes a British Columbian is diagnosed with diabetes. More than 300,000 British Columbians have diabetes.More than 500,000 aged between 40 and 74 have been diagnosed with pre-diabetes. 1 in 10 hospital admissions in BC relate to people with diabetes needing acute medical care for heart attacks, strokes and kidney failure resulting from their diabetes .

Grant Buchan-Terrell said… - Cheers Nel! Thanks for asking about me, I'm very well thanks, and hope you are too. Just got back from Caribbean Cruise on Carnival Liberty. I tweeted several comments about being a t2dr on a cruise - storing insulin,emphasis on eating & drinking & so on. I gained about 4 lbs, & I regard that as a total victory in all the circumstance - my meter broke, so I was flying blind for a few days, though I know my body and food to avoid/minimize. I also found the gym was not so busy in late morning, which was fine for sea days. I'm starting the gastric bypass intake process soon at hospital in Hamilton (St. Josephs), but still not 100% sure I will do it. My docs prefer lap banding because it is adjustable/reversible, but it doesn't "cure" t2d the way roux-en-Y seems to do with 85% of patients.
