"That is over 24the hours. And as you may still have some insulin production, you may find that the extra insulin just offsets your own and you don't need to eat as many carbs."

Brian (bsc) replied to pancreaswanted's discussion 'doh! took big night basal dose instead of little am one'
"I agree with Sally, you can probably cycle in without problem. Levemir takes a while to reach peak, perhaps 7 hours. A good way of figuring out how many carbs you need is to multiply your extra dose (4 units) by your ICR. If you cover 10 grams of…"

Super_sally replied to pancreaswanted's discussion 'doh! took big night basal dose instead of little am one'
"Yes. Increase the carbs just a little - not by a whole pizza. Monitor. If you do go low, likely it will be before meals - and you should see it coming... I have increased basal from time to time (my morning dose is just 6 units, compared to my night…"

goooood morning! out walking the dog in the park and sat down to shoot up and absent-mindedly dialled up my 6 units of levemir instead of the usual two. and then i talked to myself out loud the whole way home, going, oh no, that was so stupid, omg.... my doses arent big, but thats three times as much! so im not cycling to work or anything and think i will have to test more. im assuming this means i will not be able to just eat a big pizza for lunch or anything because its the slow acting? so i…See More

Thanks for the note about the write a novel in 30 days contest. I might even get enough courage to try out a writers workshop. I see they have a group that meets fairly close to me and since we are all Hoosiers, surely we wont fight to much? Well we might fight a lot. After all we are Hoosiers. LOL

Hello you, yes I'm on my way over with the Kerrygold, although Dairygold is far nicer, and it has to be the one wraped in the foil type wraper. Hope you are keeping well, I'm trying to step up the ex a wee bit.
