Check your codes and calibrate

Most of you know this but I learned the hard way to make sure you change the code on your meter to match the code on your test strip vial. After a weekend of unusual highs, even before a meal , this morning I discovered I'd been using a code number of 22 on my monitor with a with a new test strip code of 9! Duh ! seems like the last 2 boxes of strips ere all #22. After calibrating with the control liquid, my numbers are back to normal, not 140 before a meal. I just watched carefully what went in my mouth, put together the lowest carb plate I could and even had a little des

Buying a Kayak

After weeks of renting a touring kayak with my son, I'm ready to buy! found a great Kayak store way up in Warren County, NJ with the best showroom/selection I've seen ! I'm sold on a Wilderness Systems Tsunami 12.5 ft boat. A good, stable all around touring kayak.
Anyone else out there on tudiabetes go kayaking? I'd love to compare notes!

Kayaking in NJ

Yep, my son Ryan and I tried kayaking Sunday- something we both always wanted to try since we saw kayakers on the bay down in Stone Harbor and watching too many Discovery Channel shows! No whitewater for us yet!
We found a little place in Princeton, NJ right on the Raritan-Delaware Canal that rents canoes and kayaks- very reasonable and alot of fun ! had a great time - we paddled for an hour and a half up the canal which was clean, fairly pristine, all the way up to Lake Carnegie and back
